    I'm learning to add on the breakout instead of taking risk off as well, exciting to see the trade move how you've planned, and then disheartening to see how far and fast it moves when other traders are buying the breakout / shorts stopping out. Great video as always!

    Love the analysis. I want to learn intraday swing trading. So you have a long thesis the night before, did I miss something about taking the opening drive play? Why not add to the risk cushion to put on a bigger play later? Why not buy the pullback fib retracement? A couple of quick trades then set up your larger trade. What I see going into that wedge is a measured move of about 4 points so this would put me at a price target of 54 which it exceeded because of those factors that made you interested in this trade. I like the idea of trading 10k shares but you got to be really precise in getting in to minimize risk and stopping out. I am a swing trader 2-10 days typically so would be wanting to hold at least 1k shares overnight and if you had built a big cushion then maybe 3k. Great analysis! Lots of room for improvement. Thanks for sharing.

    There. Several take-aways in this video . One that I noticed is in updating the playbook to take into account important information that was taken into account , perhaps as a happenstance, serendipitously, or semi-unconsciously, so that the thought becomes consciously a routine part of the set-up or trade management requirements. Thanks again.

    Learned that exact pivoting lesson recently when you mentioned trading structure and referencing Paul Tudor Jones. It was a thesis for an in play setup starting the week in MRNA. I shared it in the DNA chat while adjusting my options positioning into the market close on Monday. Felt off because of the sharp reversal in some of the market leaders and volatility bidding up. It was interesting because of the expanding equity breadth metrics shared by JC & the team at ASC reported recently. Put the trade back on after seeing the rotational resolution and banks reporting. The vaccine bid was brewing in the market & developing showing up on the charts. Started at -0.52R and walked into +7.95R when the Phase 1 news hit the wires.
    I still think there was a bit of luck/chance here but there were multiple timeframe technicals, elevated RVOL, and markets changing tailwind as keys. I shared this note on Seth’s recent options video as well because it may be something to expand/express ideas in indices in the future. For now just building on top of in play stocks and the methodology shared in DNA & Winning Trader.
    Thank you for the continued insights !

    This is another great lesson. What concerns me is the degree of automation in trading, assuming that what you instruct your traders to do is common in the market. What chance does the lone retailer trader have of being successful using only his power of observation of spotting a trade and getting out at the right time before the robots skew price action?

    • @smbcapital
      @smbcapital  3 года назад +1

      The automated bots can help traders. They often push prices to extremes in both directions which create trading opportunities for us

    Thank you again for the wealth of information! I always wonder how traders know when the short sellers are getting squeezed or when the buyers take control? is it in the level 2, the time and sales, or something else I'm missing?

    • @juliest.a8914
      @juliest.a8914 3 года назад +1

      Yes, time & sales, when shares are bought mainly at asked price (green on time & sales)

      Julie St.A when sales are bought mainly at price ... but which price ? On the bid ? And what does that mean?

    • @juliest.a8914
      @juliest.a8914 3 года назад

      @@qamarmood1157 At "ask" price. When buyers really want shares (or short sellers really wanting to get out, close the trade), they have no other choice than take price offered available on the "ask" and when price climbs fast, it pushes short sellers to close trade faster (squeezing them, backing them into a corner). And as a seller, it's an opportunity to make bold offers (on the "ask") as shorts trying to close position need to buy to cut their loss. Is this better explained ?

    • @qamarmood1157
      @qamarmood1157 3 года назад

      Julie St.A makes sense but couldn’t thst also mean impatient traders such as myself are getting in scared they are going to miss the action? Because I always buy the ask

    • @juliest.a8914
      @juliest.a8914 3 года назад

      @@qamarmood1157 Haha, yeah, I'm one of those too (often). A short squeeze is a mix of short sellers trying to close trade, a bunch of long buyers trying buy before price gets high plus daytraders trying to trade the momentum. All combined drives the price up pretty fast

    This channel definitely brings value, however, I do not understand why any trader will risk all there gains and + for continuation. It’s risky. As a trader: the goal isn’t always about making money but about our strategy so risking all there earlier P/L + doesn’t seem smart.
    I’m only 22 min and 11 sec in so I’ll keep watching but I’m dumbfounded with this traders risk.
    Update: I now see the overall play and I learn a few things. However, I still don’t agree with the risk he was willing to take.

    • @kylev8903
      @kylev8903 3 года назад +2

      To me, if I know an A+++ setup is presenting itself and I know my win rate on this particular setup and I know the potential reward and I’m comfortable with the risk I’m taking, it’s important to get big for my style of trading. A few of these trades per month is really were a bulk of p&l comes from if you are more of an explosive trader than someone who is a little more active. Worse case scenario is I hand back my earlier p&l + 50% of daily stop. But with that said, I likely would have had a reason2exit prior to that hard stop being hit once I got my last couple entries. Also, it’s important to know your “average day”. If you are consistently making around what your daily stop value is, then handing back 50% of it on a special situation is completely fine by me. Hope that helps. Beautiful thing about the market is there is plenty of ways to skin the cat.

    • @smbcapital
      @smbcapital  3 года назад +1

      If the trade is an A+ for the trader then the potential reward on it will outweigh the risk. Often we wish we were bigger in our best trades. Risk tolerance is different for all traders
