Some slightly dodgy rope physics aside, this is really a masterclass in visual storytelling. Even someone who can't speak the language of the small amount of dialogue, just from this one scene, can get an accurate picture of the relationship between the characters and their backstory. It's almost a self-contained film in itself.
I'd say the only other scene to match this was the military parade. When everyone was pledging their allegiance to the King, even in that moment when he was being King, he still felt like he was in the shadow of his brother.
I am 55 years old now and ever since I was like 10 years old, I have watched trailers, movie clips and movie scenes from movies of India. I have never really had the pleasure of watching an entire film of India.and that's perhaps because movies from India are not shown too much in American Tv or American theaters. I would like to say that I have never seen a scene or a clip from a film of India that did not impress me. Through my observation, i have realized that India is a giant and that India has great talent and marvelous stories , plots and genius abilities to produce films that are worthy of awards and world recognition. I also believe that America dominates the film industry worldwide and that's why American films win more awards and become classics, historic and most popular. I believe that if the film industry in India were given a fair chance to compete with Hollywood film makers in the USA that film makers of India would be just as recognized , appreciated and valued as the film makers of great movies in America.
Where Hollywood leads is in the technology which gives an edge in science fiction genre! But the greatest part lies in Indian stories, the writers, directors and very talented actors and crew!
Only this 6 mins scene has more plot than most of Bollywood movies. This shows how good writing and good direction can make such huge impact in very little time.
Don't get me wrong .Yes ,this movie has one of the greatest scenes in Indian movie history .But you don't watch good movies from Bollywood.Comedy movies of 20s bollywood is peak of peak. And action adrenaline is speciality of telugu cinema, character oriented movie is a speciality of Tamil cinema ,malayalam and old bengali has plot driven movies.

@@truebeliever786 actually it's not your fault that u haven't been fan of indian movies, it our own fault. Why I say this is because we do have lot of potential making such films with good storytelling because of our history and our myths and legends which we hear since childhood. It's just that our main industry back then, bollywood never cared for this much world building and storytelling, they were not capable of this despite having lot of resources. It's a very box office oriented controlled industry which doesn't allow good story tellers to come forward. I think my favorite part of this whole scene is the silent exchange between Devasena and Bhalla. Even though there are no words, their expressions say everything.
When the mere memory of a leader empowers an entire laborforce. What the first guy (who saw Siva's face) meant: "I just saw Bahubali" What the rest of the laborers instead thought: "Yes, Bahubali was strong. So can be we"
They use his name to show their resistance and resilience in their loyalty without actually committing treason. It shows that one word has far more power than screaming yourself horse.
