Cette force , ces sentiments uniques unissant Idoménéo et Idamante, son fils tant aimé . Quels airs déchirants, quelles merveilleuses notes , variations puissantes sur l'amour de l'un pour l'autre ; Rarement , sinon JAMAIS , l'amour d'un père pur son fils et d'un fils pour son père ne fut ainsi exalté ; Je suis ému aux larmes , ...aux larmes .... ! ! ! / Henri Matchavariani

Opere come questa è molto difficile che si ripeterà una seconda volta.Uno stile unico senza varianti specialmente nei cori dove prevale un'assoluta impronta Mozartiana che con il passare degli anni sarà adottata dal grande Giuseppe Verdi.Grazie

Erfrischend jung, genial...alle Sänger himmlisch... Orchester sehr transparent...Inszenierung sehr konzentriert auf das Geschehen...wohltuend elegant!
Maravillosa escena y los cantantes tienen un altísimo nivel, especialmente me gustan Harteros, grande grande y Siurina: qué bella voce ... No me convencía mucho Vargas al principio pero mejora muchísimo tras varias escuchas... De lo mejor que he visto últimamente. Viva Salzburgo!

2006 was the the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birthday and they performed all of Mozart's operas including the little known ones.

I believe Mozart would have been very content with this production; this spectacle and pantomime were what he intended. My only major distaste with it was the strange ending during the ballet... is it too difficult to maintain a happy ending of an opera seria?
I think it's there to indicate that Idamante is going to be traumatized after the events of the opera? Idk it really jolted me and I'm not really a fan of it because I agree, opera seria are kind of designed to have happy endings and after several minutes of Idamante and Ilia being cute I wasn't ready for that very sudden change in mood.

Mozart composed wonderful recitatives. Everything he composed were.magical. Wonderful production but that fellow in the beginning was very annoying. While I prefer that operas adhere to the original staging, more or less, the minimalism of this production was acceptable. to me.

What would Mozart say about this production of Idomeneo? How awful. The way it has been modernized has taken away from the beauty of the opera. To me this production has put Mozart to shame. All I can say is, this production to me is very amateurish. I just don't get it. The only good part is, the soloists are very good.

The La Scala production, also in 2006, was also very good. The year, as the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth saw many productions, although I doubt it that not a year passes without Mozart products.
