Definitely not a beater watch. Because Island watches is a micro brand you're getting great value. If Seiko had released their SKX with those specs it would be in the Prospex family and they would charge $725-850. Great review BTW 👍
Once he has a sale on these watches I’m going to pick it up. Like you said, it pretty much has all the mods I want to an skx013. Once I purchase this watch I’ll look for a cool oem seiko dial, maybe from tokeilabs, and finish off the watch like that.
My first islander was the fully lumed white dial..and then 7 islanders later I have to say marc offers much more then the seiko SKX,or any entry level prospex seiko has to offer..he knows what the people want by what the moders do..they come with the same movements plus sapphire and ceremic bezels that are lumed..for that sei ko would charge over $500..now go look at long island watch prices and see what marc has to offer.

Just picked up this model (used) and I must say, it wears VERY small...even on my 6.25" wrist. Of course I'd been wearing a 42.5mm Garmin watch for 3 years straight so I was used to seeing that on my wrist until now. I guess I need to get used to a hefty stainless steel diver in a small package.
Great review and watch a few other on this watch but the model numbers seems to varies. I’m looking for I guess this watch and similar to the SKX 013 model. I’m looking on eBay for deals and don’t seem as active as the Seiko SKX 013 listings. So I guess I just look for Islander 38mm and assume they are the ones modeled after the SKX 013 Jist getting into collecting watches again after not collecting for about 8 years.
Cont. Remember and learning these model movers is a pain bc there are so many. New companies should take note of that trying to refine all the details to just go simple like model 1-2-3-4 and go up as in with the difference in color and used the size after like 38. Oh and change that Long Island logo stamp on the back bc it looks not that obvious and you gotta figure out what it is. Logo of stamps should be obvious at a glance and just as important as designing a watch for it great looks and have something more appealing at a glance. Yeah, it sound good and literal to add the map of Long Island but make it more appealing and not be so literal.

Absolutely right, maybe even in the $1000 range if SKX had these specs. I have two Islander watches I love them.
I have the ISL-49 (Pepsi bezel). It’s my overall favorite of my collection.

What do you think of the male end links ? Do they add too much to the lug to lug?

Hey Ben, It is indeed Super-Luminova C3! In person it glows a minty green in the dark. It may be appearing more bluish due to the camera.
