    PDX has one of the MOST BEAUTIFUL approaches of any U.S. airport/city. ❤

    Love the PNW! About 10 years ago I flew into Portland, it was one of those beautiful sunny days that was around 0 degrees. We had the most gorgeous views of Mt Adam's, Mt Ranier & Mt St Helens. As we neared Portland, it felt like you could touch Mt Hood. Unfortunately it didn't remain that clear as we headed towards San Jose. Love your videos!

      I'm glad you enjoy them my friend. You know, sometimes the weather just cooperates haha. This whole flight, I thought the mountains would be obscured because of the clouds. Turns out, they cleared away at the perfect moment.

      "0 degrees"? I've lived here my whole life and have never seen temps that cold. Hell, we rarely even get snow. Portland is the warmest non-sunbelt major city in the US, hence the 18 ft tall palm tree in my front yard.🤷‍♂️

    On my one flight into Portland, I had a stunning view of Mt Hood on a perfectly clear day. I just stared in awe and forgot to video it! I happened to visit Timberlake Lodge near its summit on that trip as well! I also visited Mt Saint Helens, a must do if in that area.

    WOWOWOWOW!!! Great views of Mt. St. Helens!! Good views of the Columbia River and the Gorge. Good views of I-84. Good view of the IKEA. :)
    We've had a cold spring this year which is why everything looked so green. We're having a rare triple La Nina event, which may account for the terrific heat in Texas this month.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад +1

      I think the IKEA was the highlight for sure haha :D. I live north of Texas and we're getting this lovely heat wave too. 108 yesterday. 104 today. In fact, the next 8 days are all triple digit days. Good thing my AC is working haha.

    • @scottbridge9391
      @scottbridge9391 2 года назад

      @@sla31 Yes, during La Ninas, there are extreme heat spells in the US interior during the summer. The big heat wave that hit Chicago in 1995, killing 1500 people, happened during a La Nina.
      For us in WA State, it means normal to being on the cool side in the summer, but colder and wetter than normal during the fall and winter and sometimes during the spring too.
      This La Nina is going on its 3rd year, which is extraordinary. If it continues, we could have a big arctic cold snap this fall.
      A La Nina is the opposite of an El Nino.
      When the Red Cross here hears that we're having a La Nina, they prepare themselves for heavy snowstorms. The biggest snowstorms here happened during La Ninas and so have the coldest winters on record.

    Great fly! Are you guys dealing with heat with heat index value of more than 100F in your area?

    • @sla31
      @sla31  2 года назад

      Yes. 108 yesterday, 104 today, 105 tomorrow, etc. We are in the middle of a 14 day stretch with triple digit temps. The first day below 100 isn't going to be Thursday the 28th at 96. We also haven't had any rain for nearly two months now. Living in a huge agriculture area that isn't irrigated because we typically get plenty of rain, it's been devastating to crops. You know all that inflation you've asked me about? Get ready for it to get worse. The farmers had their wheat burn up, then the corn grew but didn't produce any ears, and now the soy beans are being fried. I have a relative who farms and he's lost three crops in a row now. With a lot of the bread basket facing similar weather, food prices are going to continue to rise since so much of the crops are being lost.
