Try running out of gas in the middle of the night in the North Maine Woods. That’s what happened to me. I learned about the North Maine Woods by being lost in them.

@@RevereOverland we would've just back tracked but we didn't have enough gas

@@personwhoexists4491 We were fine on that bridge, we had over an inch of clearance on either side of the tires. That was a fun trip except we only got to use 4wd once.

Enjoyed your video series through the North Maine woods. We are originally from up there so this brings back many memories. I have only seen the "ghost trains" during the winter while snowmobiling. No flies or mosquitoes then. They say the black flies and mosquitoes help keep the tourists population down! However, they aren't nearly as bad in late July. Just got to watch for the moose flies!

Thanks! I think we need to go back to Maine to spend some more time in the state, but either in late summer, or the fall. Our timing was pretty poor this year!

I’m just glad that Logger didn’t know how much I would have paid for that gas!

It would have cost even more if we’d had to have backtracked!

When the gauge reads empty, any price is cheap.

Best month to visit Maine is September, after Labor Day. Generally great weather, the Massholes have gone home and your black fly (June/early July only) and mosquito problems are minimal. I enjoy your vids. Thanks

I really enjoyed them. I wish we had known it was a couple of miles round trip. The impression we got was that they were right at the parking lot, so didn’t go prepared!

There is gas available in Seboomic campground and Northeast carry. You should have researched the area before traveling there. I spend a lot of time in the Northwoods, always have a tire patch kit , air compressor, 4 6 gallon gas cans and I start out with my tank topped off . The trains are one of many relics left from the logging industry in the Allagash waterway, the rest you need to access by canoe. Look up lombards, the first track driven machinery , designed by a Mainer .
