(Whatever your name is), I genuinely enjoyed both the drone views of Newport, and your GENUINE "ayyy-up" honest-to-goodness Maine accent brought back a lot of memories for me (I spent my IDYLLIC formative years from 3rd-9th grade on a 90-acre farm in York County, and the patriarch of our only neighbor had a thick Maine accent). I'm commenting because we're looking at buying some property nearby, and Newport is the closest town, so wanted to learn more about the place, and your narration was VERY good and VERY informative. Thanks again, and due to your informative video of the area, no Mainer will have to say to me, "Ya can't get theyy'ah from hee'ah."
Hi Mike, my name is Mark and I am glad you enjoyed the video. I have many more in the archives to do and will lease them each week. I also have another channel that covers Maine concerns -> ruclips.net/channel/UCQVKmIaiSdmL4HLo8nnuXeg
Thanks for watching.
nice tune you strummed on the guitar and nice town Newport Me.
Thank you. This is my 50th year of playing guitar.
Newport is such a wonderful place in Maine. The best place in Penobscot County, much better than Bangor, Lincoln or Millinocket areas.
It sure is busy there, but I do enjoy all the town offers. Did you know the ice cream shop offers Moxie ice cream?
Keep up the good work. Live in Maine part of the year, and always looking for a new place to visit. There is no place like Maine.
Thank-you. It is the best state. I will be sharing the Stockton Springs video in the next week.
Do you have one of Charleston Maine? It would be neat to see the hill and the town going into Bradford.
I don’t at this time. Stay tuned, perhaps I can get to it next fall. Thank you for watching.
My mother was born in a home on (100 ?) Elm St. Newport Maine in 1923. As a NJ kid in the 50s and 60s I visited my grandparents there several times per year. A white clapboard high school was, by that time, right next door. I have fond memories of blueberry picking in the nearby fields, as well as swimming and sunning at Lake Sebasticook. Going "Overtown" (never "downtown") to the Main St. five & dime, with a whole dollar in hand was a simple pleasure and adventure for this 8 year old. My older, more cynìcal Newport-born resident cousins (then teenagers) joked that they'd go overtown to wàtch the light turn green. My mother spoke of it as "almost Heaven". I doubt she would have ever left had she not dropped out of Farmìngton Normal School (now U Maine) to become a wartime bride. Of course, had she not done so, i wouldn't be here.
PS Moxie was my favorite drink as a kid visiting "God's country" (according to grandfather). Could never get Moxie at home. I still have a piece of a genuine Moxie poster, maybe 1940's.
Thank-you for taking the time to share your piece of history and connection to Newport. As a kid in Bridgton in the 60's I also love shopping at the five and dime. Great memories without internet or smartphones.
The only tonics I had growing up were the home made root beers of our neighbor from Scotland, and Dr Pepper. Mom didn't by soda's as it was "No good for you." Thank-you for watching.
Give me a quart bottle of MOXI and a stick of pepperoni and get back LOL
Exactly. My brother and I bought a 2 liter bottle and shingled my roof!
Quite the town!!
It is. I especially like the ice cream place. Thank you for watching
The exit we take to get to dexter
I will be doing a video later this year on Dexter. Thanks for watching.
Is that you Dennis? You forgot Abraham's Goat Farm!
AI Maine accent? Newport is beautiful!
Bwahahahaa, I've been called robotic, but now completely digital. I grew up with a Cheryl Watson in the Bridgton/Naples area where we had real accents, lol.
Too bad the old Log Cabin restaurant went out! I used to order the fried clam dinner and then eat myself right into oblivion!
Sounds like a great restaurant. Never ate there, but recently was thinking how many restaurants have closed across the state over the past few years. Sad. I miss Millers here in Bangor. Thanks for watching.
I also miss Tim Hortons in Newport
@@TheseMaineTowns There used to be a Quiznos there that was good too. Tell you what, though, that old Log Cabin restaurant would bring people in from all over. We were living in Greenville at the time, and we drove down there just to eat there!
@@oldmainenewmaine4164 Goodness, that must have been good. Sounds like Mammies in Union - I did a review of a breakfast I had last summer on my other channel. ruclips.net/video/5l5pgEgwJ34/видео.html
Yes Sawyer's does have some good ice cream but if you ever meet its owner you'll probably regret it he's one of the rudest people I've ever met in my entire life
Sorry to hear that. I can take rude as long as I get Moxie ice cream
What is wrong with a narrator? !
A lot. Way too much to itemize here.
