  • Understanding how PGI has coded Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries can result in significantly reduced friendly fire suffered at the hands of your own lance mates and even make you invisible to other mechs! Today's video will show you that situational awareness will help with friendly fire, while patience will allow you to sneak up on enemies and possibly destroy them before they can even return fire!

    Wow, great tips and great footage! As for assault mechs, my favorite is Annihilator (any non 1E model) for defense missions and Boar's Head Atlas for most other mission types. The Boar's Head is really expensive at 30 million with 25% discount, so another excellent choice (and maybe slightly stronger) is the Mauler 2P. I usually strip some lasers to load up more ammo and armor, and if you have tier 5 UAC/5 (which you get automatically from a certain high reward mission later on in Kurita space), you are unstoppable. Other excellent choices are the Atlas D (also ideal for AI pilots to have them pull their weight), Atlas RS (though if you can find the K model, it can replace the RS). Looking forward to your next video!

      Great suggestions! Haven't found any hero assault mechs yet unfortunately. Although I have tried the Annihilator with 4 uac5 with varying degrees of success.

    Actually the enemy Ai will ignore you if you don’t fire at them so yes I confirm. This helps especially in cases such as a lance has just dropped in front of you. Hope that they will fix this spawn problem. In high difficulty missions you need some more time to regroup.

    Actually, friendly AI can't hurt you with friendly fire. Mellow Seven Gaming tested it pretty thoroughly. You take the hits but they do no damage at all. You can hurt them, and I believe they can hurt each other - though he didn't test that last.

      Now this is how you correct someone! I was contemplating testing this myself (but who has the time! MSG apparently haha) but it always seemed like I was taking damage on the paperdoll. Cheers!

      While that is true, any shot that does hit you will never have the chance to hit an enemy. And the lance AI's can still annoy me with PPC's if I give them some.

      I guess you need to get this info to those who have created friendly fire mods to where friendly fire does no damage. I don't know how they turn it off but sounds like in the coding you can do that. At least they think so.

      It can still damage you... Emotionally.

    And you can always prank your AI opponent by ordering them a sando with way too much tuna.

    This is great advice for when you're piloting lighter mechs. Once you up-ton to a certain size, like an Atlas 2D or RS, energy Annihilator, Corsair or Nightstar, it is easier to alpha strike and remove one side torso at a time from the enemies.

    I did not know that the enemy AI would ignore you if you did not fire on them first. I am very curious as to what assault mech you pick, your medium, and heavy picks were extremely insightful and good. I am currently using a stalker build with 2 lrm 20's and 2 lrm 5's, for helicopters and light armor, along with 4 medium lasers. I find that with a long distance play style I hardly take any damage from AI, unfortunately a long distance play style does not always work for all missions.

      I tend to brawl all the time and have troubles trying to play a long distance playstyle due to the sheer volume of vehicles.

    I recommend not doing the invisible thing too long (if at all) in any engagement. Your lancemates being the idiots they are will most certainly start losing components if you're not there to take the aggro. They have a tendency to stand still instead of moving when firing, especially later on when they are all in assault mechs that are really expensive to repair. Not even starting on losing some of the more expensive/rare weapon systems, just because they don't seem to understand that mobility is life.

      True, it's situational. I've always found that I'm doing the dps of two lancemates combined anyways, so the longer I have all my weapons, the faster I can take down enemies.

    Man this channel is really underrated for the great information it provides. I’m glad I came across this channel because it’s made mech warrior a much better experience. And I’m using mods and cheat engine to just stomp around and have fun blasting.

    Hi, Nice video. Do you have an opinion regarding NARC / TAG ? is it worth it?

    • @KnightKnowledge
      @KnightKnowledge  4 года назад

      I haven't really had the opportunity to try. I normally don't equip LRMs bigger than 10 on allies b/c they like to run into brawling range rather than stay back. I've heard that you'll get a constant alert when tagged/narc'ed as well.

    • @dupayhydupa
      @dupayhydupa 4 года назад +1

      @@KnightKnowledge Haha, the constant alert is so true. At first I was like 'are they going to use it?' One loading screen later, every tank, every helicopter every turret was tagged. I only equip LRM 20 on AI on assasination missions, when I know I will going for max range attack, and killing them before they approach. Btw I have found that if you have a NAV point, and you don't want to walk all the way there (coz it is behind the mountain or something) Just shoot at that general direction, that will lure all the mechs towards you, making the walk much shorter. If noone will come towards you, then you can ignore the nav
