In reference to the Tautology Replacement Rule: p :: (p v p) :: (p . p) one could argue that ALL replacement rules are tautologies: For example, the Transposition Replacement Rule, (p ⊃ q) :: (~q ⊃ ~p), can be rewritten as (p ⊃ q) ⊃ (~q ⊃ ~p) .... (1) The truth table for (1) above confirms that the Transposition Replacement Rule is also a tautology. Given that all replacement rules are tautologies, why is the name reserved for one specific replacement rule ---- viz p :: (p v p) :: (p . p) ?
