Got my Raptor last Friday. Damn, what a machine!
Champion!! You won’t be disappointed 👍🏻😎🇦🇺
Awesome Damo, we just got back from our first trip away in the Raptor towing our new Camper Trailer. I was so freaking impressed as well. Towing over 2t effortlessly and the fuel usage sitting on 110 was around 11.6 L/100. We traversed some really steep and rocky tracks the certainly gave us an idea of what the Raptor is capable of. It simply crawled up the inclines without ever feeling sketchy and I must admit that the terrain control system really does a fantastic job. I usually think these type of systems are a bit of a gimmick but my mind has changed.
Another thing I was simply amazed about going from a manual to the auto was the way the Raptor kept its solid footing during very steep descents. 1st gear in manual mode and it never overran even with rocks sliding out under the tyres. I also tried the hill descent control. WOW. Even my wife admitted that she felt really safe and in control in the Raptor.
Finally I was impressed with how decent the paint on the Raptor appear to be. I scraped down plenty of pinstripe giving trees and shrubs but after cleaning the car they are not evident. The only thing I was disappointed about was as a result of sliding down onto a big rock with the passenger side side step is did put a small ding on the corner of of the step and chipped off a small section of the coating. If was a decent hit but I expected a bit more out of them. No idea what I am going to do to get it recoated or is it is even possible.
Thanks again and look forward to part 2.
Nathan thanks for the great comment mate 👍🏻. It’s good to hear what other owners think. I’ve also got a few gouges in my side steps and will most likely touch them up with some paint to seal the damage. Cheers mate 😎
@@RoundTheFire I was wondering how effective it would be to sandblast it all off and get them recoated in LineX or Raptor Liner.
I’m not sure mate, the coating on the steps now is ‘supposed’ to be to an equivalent standard? I’ll keep touching them up as we go and hopefully not bang them up too much more 👍🏻
Epic quality of your videos, Damo. I appreciate the work of your family and friends, to take us with you, on this awesome trip. The Raptor is doing a good job as it looks like. I started as your subscriber, to get a good review of the Raptor but now, what you do and show us, makes me to your biggest fan mate.... I wish you guys always a save trip and that all the gear still stay strong. Hang Loose
🇦🇺🤙🇦🇺🤙🇦🇺
Dan, you are a legend mate, awesome comment 😎👍🏻🇦🇺🍺
@@RoundTheFire thanks mate. Beginning of a friendship.😉🇦🇺🇩🇪🤙
Hi great Vlog.....one of the only who uses his truck as its built to do....thumbs up.......from rainy Thailand
Thanks mate, when I first bought the truck there wasn't a lot of information out there about the Ranger Raptor. Hopefully by using and filming the Raptor (Good or Bad) other people can see these VLOGs and use them to make a better decision if this is the right vehicle for them...Plus its a great excuse for me to tell the wife so I can go camping and 4x4ing.
Bloody awesome Damo, looks like an epic hol mate and can't wait to see part two!
I can think of worse places to burn a week camping 😎👍🏻, working on part 2 mate, hopefully done by next weekend...
Great clip. Loved the drone shots. Can't wait for part 2. Show us round your camp setup if you got time. Cheers
G’day Paul, thanks for the comment mate 👍🏻 I may have to do a mock up of my camp set up. I haven’t really filmed any camp content 😳
Just an amazing trip can't wait to see the rest!
Thanks Doug 👍🏻😎
Damo those flies!!! Being a Pommie I just don't think i could cope with them. It would spoil my trip. Loving my Raptor, keep up the great vids
G’day Dave, The flies do make life that little bit harder, I had to pull out all my charm by day 10-12 mark to keep the wife from necking me 😂 Congratulations on the new Raptor and thanks for watching 👍🏻🍺🇦🇺
An exquisitely awesome content and shots mate. Keep up the good job. Can't wait for next episode. Cheers!
Thank you Ashraf!...great comment mate, really appreciated 😎👍🏻🇦🇺

Awesome video Damo. Greetings from the U.S. I love watching your videos from the other side of the world. Keep up the good work!👍👍
Gday Jim, thanks for dropping a comment mate, great to see another mate from across the pond on here 🇺🇸 hope you liked my NRA shirt 👍🏻
@@RoundTheFire Yep-nice shirt!😎
Awesome video. Thanks for posting
Thanks Mate 👍🏻
Keep up the great work. And keep doing what you are doing showing us what the truck are capable of.Thanks for the good content 🔥👆🌍wishing you safe kilometres from South Africa
Thanks very much mate 😎👍🏻🇦🇺
Nice one Damo! Good to see some real feedback on the Raptor... Still a D-Max man myself.
Cheers Bob 👍🏻, I don’t mind the D-Max myself good rig, might be the reason the new BT’s will be now using Isuzu running gear now 😎🇦🇺
Well done on the video man. Looks great.
Thanks mate, I’m waiting to see your next clip on how the trailer build is going 😎👍🏻
Super awesome trails, and roads. Would be cool to get my SVT Raptor to Australia
We are fairly lucky here in Australia 🇦🇺...We have a country the size of the USA 🇺🇸 with an entire population less than NYC!! I would highly recommend to anyone into the outdoors to come and explore the Australian outback 👍🏻😎
Nice one Damo........thanks for the awesome vid mate!!
Gary, Legend mate thanks for the comment.
G'day Damo, mate looks like you're having a blast. Scenery looks spectacular. And I must say I'm a bit envious of the warm weather, so over the cold weather in Adelaide already.
Gday Nick, It was nice up there mate. I’m feeling your pain, I’m back in BNE now working nights freezing the old brass monkeys off. 👍🏻
I really love this kind of video
Thanks mate 😎👍🏻🇦🇺
love love
Thank you 👍🏻😎🇦🇺
Thailand has Mazda BT 50 PRO and Ford Ranger Raptor A lot of people
Both good cars 👍🏻
Amazing love the video
Cheers Mate, pitty you pulled out last minute, an extra camera would have been great 😎👍🏻🇦🇺🍺
Nice video again! Envy you for all the available tracks you have. Here most are restricted areas.
Henri, thanks for the comment mate, Australia is certainly the place to go for overlanding. We have an island bigger than most continents and a population smaller than most big cities, plenty of room to get out and away from civilisation.
@@RoundTheFire Yep, I know, been a few times to the SE side. And had the luck to pass the great ocean road, also doing some tigermoth 1930 double decker flight stunts (the full lot). Philips Island to see the penguins, Caldaway Speedtrack, witnessing a near (just ended 2nd) world record dragster full fuel. And yes Melbourne and up to Sydney and Brisbane. Good memories. But a long time ago.
Amazing place ,you better have your crap together out there no one to come get you. Keep trucking glad to see the raptor doing so well. God Bless
Thanks mate 👍🏻😎🇦🇺
Cracking video mate
Thanks mate 👍🏻
Awesome video
Thanks Mate 😎👍🏻🇦🇺
Beautiful country there
Looks like an epic trip mate, we will need to g up a trip one day !
I’m always keen to go bush mate (it’s work that always has other ideas 😂) Looking forward to the next video on your tuck 😎👍🏻🇦🇺
I can’t believe those tyres dude that’s nuts, are the bfs on the trailer ?
@@TyFenwick Nah mate, only a cheap set of Goodride M/T tyres that came stock with the trailer when I bought it. Im going to change the trailer tyres out to BFGoodrich to match the Raptor...Ive never had a drama with BFGoodrich ever! so I might stick to a bit of proven performance.
I like your ute Damo. You are giving it a good workout, hope it serves you well. I'll be watching to see how it does .
G’day Scott, welcome back mate. Definitely not much point buying a nice off road truck like this and only use it to pick up the milk and paper 😎🇦🇺
Ford the best
Some cracking views there ,one day 😉
Cheers mate, great little spot to check out 👍🏻
do a catch and cook during your stop over . 😊
that's a good idea, will have to keep that in mind for the next trip. thanks mate
What a great video!! Waiting for more mate! Excellent quality drone footage!!! Go Raptor! Hey gotta question, does it feel to high to get in the truck, i mean you need to step on the sidebars or is it just like a normal Ranger or Hilux? Just curious! Thanks!!! Keep the great job!
Jonnhy, thanks for the great comment mate 🍺 It is slightly higher than say getting into a normal lifted Luxy or Ranger. I pretty much use the side steps every time in and out mostly because the steps are so wide it’s a big effort to step over them into the cab and it’s easier to sit ‘down’ into the bucket seats rather than trying to slide across into them 😎👍🏻
Damo,
How does the grey colour go with the bush pin stripes? Does the grey mask them well?
Cheers
G’day Mate, great to see you back 👍🏻 I’m very happy with the grey, I literally just finished washing the Ute and found a few more dents I didn’t know were there. From 1m away the paint looks brand new, most of the pin stripes easily show up on the black plastics more than the paint. 😎👍🏻🍺
The only way I can find the scratches on the paint is by following the lines on the plastic parts.
Hi Damo. Great videos. I live in Sri Lanka and bought a Lightning Blue Raptor in January this year. Love watching your videos. I have a question about a tow hitch. How do I contact.you on email?
Day Chandev, Congratulations mate. my contact email is in the about section of my channel.
@@RoundTheFire sorry. No. I couldn't find it there.. Basically, the Raptor available in Sri Lanka doesnt come with a tow hitch. It has a steel bar with 2 tow points. Did your Raptor come with a hitch installed? chandevabhay@gmail.com
Yes, In the centre of the steel bar with the the 2 rated tow points is where the factory installed tow hitch should be? It fits a standard Hayman Reese hitch. Interesting why Ford did not add this ‘ONLY’ to the Sri Lankan release? 🤔
@@RoundTheFire yes. Not only interesting, quite disappointing because I tried hard to get it included. My model, thankfully, doesnt have the annoying idle start/stop feature which was mentioned by Ford at the time of ordering!. I have tried to get the hitch from Ford Thailand but failed. Waiting for a suitable Hayman Reese model to purchase. Could you send me the correct Hayman Reese part number when you find the time? Much appreciated.
How the ac?
I see thanks video
Thank you for watching 👍🏻
Nice One Damo. Did you use the raptors modes whilst driving 👍😎
Phil I did have a go at a few of the modes, most did what they said they would do...others I wasn’t too sure about.
@@RoundTheFire nice to know some worked. It pulled the trailer pretty good. Which was pretty impressive 👍👍😎
I’m actually really surprised how well the Raptor can tow for the size of the engine. It’s limited tow capacity rating pretty much rules out hooking up most caravans but any camper trailer no worries 👍🏻😎
How’s your fuel gauge reading with the long range tank?
Gday Trevor, I had some dramas with the gauge after the tank was first installed but after taking it back in to be corrected, the gauge is working like normal now and will run down all the way to the ‘E’ the only difference I’ve noticed is the gauge will read full until about the first 50L is used then the needle will start to drop. The DTE corrects itself the closer I get to empty. 👍🏻
Did I hear u say 33liters per 100 kms consumption??
13.6L/100kms - Traveling at 125 kph
Nice to see the NRA brother
😎👍🏻🇦🇺
Mate, did you say 30 litres in a 100 kilometers ?
Scott M 13
13.6L/100K's
@@RoundTheFire Sorry for that mate, I did review the video and found my error ! I mistook thirdeen for Thirty 😂 , sorry
Not a problem Mate 👍🏻
@Gary Shannon The Legend
Man dig deep
So hot outside, how about the dog?
Plenty of rest stops and cold water.
My Raptor has been starting strange whistling sounds recently. The sound is only heard from around the driver seat area, there is no wind detected inside so the sound must be outside or under the hood. I have tried to take off window rain deflectors, 2 led lights on the car hood but there's still whistling. In the following video at 0:17, when I press the button for external air, the whistling can be hear noisier. Could you give me some advise? ruclips.net/video/qbNKggYfWCU/видео.html
Hi Vu, poor quality video, I can’t hear any sound over people talking in the cab. If I was to guess what would be making the noise it’s the lights mounted on top of the bonnet. While you are still in your warranty phase your best bet is to take it to your dealer for anything you think maybe a problem. 👍🏻
may as well get a normal ranger. certainly not using any of the raptor parts.
Im using the seats...?
Rubbish motor lets it down 3.2 would have been better
An Aussie with an NRA shirt. You'll have to forgive if I find that bizarre.
You have an NRA shirt on. Cmon mate, poor form.
I have spent over 17 years of my life in the Australian Army Infantry and Operating as a Private Military Contractor fighting in Afghanistan...I like guns?...what?
