I shave every day with my shavettes, always do my 3 passes, my face appreciates a gradual beard reduction. Interesting what you said about keeping the razor gliding, that’s what I always say is one of the secrets to using a shavette, they just have to keep gliding throughout the stroke. 15 method soaps, wow, I think I have 3, but I know you’ve just slowly built the den up over time. I hope you enjoy the rest of the week. 😌👍

That Merkur Futur Gold is on my wish list for the very near future (pun intended),
I'm retired, so I get to relax and enjoy each and every one of my shaves. I shaved yesterday, for the first time, with a vintage PAL adjustable and had a wonderful shave. I bought the PAL complete with case, instructions and blade dispenser. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It was in much better shape than described. I don't think it was ever used more than a couple of times. The case in intact with very few minor scratches and I could not find one single scratch on the razor.

Great shave Paul, just enough color on the face to compliment the magnificent arrangement provided by Mrs H.. Super brushes by Rich, been trying to get one of his creations for a long time, always sold out it seems. Good score him gifting to you for sure. That Futur really takes off the stubble, not a fan of aggressive razors, but the Futur is a looker especially in gold. Can't go wrong with Stirling products, great value and performance. Hey Paul how have you been I’m catching up on your videos we are snowed in today it snowed about 9 inches last night I am so sorry I haven’t watched in a while life gets busy as they say. I still do the same thing as you I put on aftershave balm it’s the last thing I put on i do thayers then aftershave and then the aftershave balm for head shaves I’m letting my beard grow out have a great week

Good advice on aggressive razors. That rule most certainly applies when shaving with a shavette . If you wanna stop, do it on your own time :), never while on your face.

Another great video with useful tips. This week I’m practicing with a shavette razor. It may as well be with a Vauxhall chevette if you saw the mess I was making to my less dominant side cheek.

Please describe the impact a blade overhang may have in various areas of your face, and the potential techniques to limit the damages. Have a wonderful balance of the week. Cheers from North America!
Many thanks, the impact blade overhang can have is various things really, you can clip under your nose, around your ear lobe, and even your fingers if your not aware of it, so technique to avoid all this is "knowing" and respecting the fact it's there and common sense....regards to you in North America :-)
Hi Paul, just need a minute of yours, i am using Qshave Adjustable and now i want to buy a Legit Adjustable razor, i am a daily shaver. I have coarser beard. I use Qshave on setting 3.5 and 4 for my daily shave. Now guide me which one i should buy? Merkur Futur or Progress or Parker Variant. Thanks in advance.
If your happy with the Q-shave and it's performance I would go for the Merkur Futur, the other two are less aggressive, unless you want that of course.Many thanks :-)

Any issues in blade alignment on Merkur Futur? My Qshave some times shaves well on one side and when i flip to other side i feel i am rubbing the cap of the razor on my face. Does Merkur Futur have any such issues?
Paul, just a quick note. You should try an Alum block for the occasional weepers, mine go away in microseconds! It does work, for me. Cheers!

Hey man! Love your videos, very classy. A question if I may, I read online in a couple of threads that the merkur gold is made of zinc alloy, that, especially if you live in an area with hard water.. can actually make it rust from the inside (it takes a couple of years, but it's there) Have you noticed anything yet?
Thanks, I have not seen or felt any deterioration in my Merkur Gold, but I do put mineral oil inside all my Futur razors, which keeps any water/moisture to a minimum.

I have futur clone i bought cheap for first wet shave. really like the shave, but blades are not equal. I can only shave on one side. So I am seriously thinking of getting the original for quality. My questions is it really going to change my shaving experience for the better? Thank s PaulHFilms
If you like aggressive razors, then yes this will be a great addition to your shaving den, the trouble with the clones is one can be good and others can be slightly out etc...good luck Dan :-)

PaulHFilms Wow, I find the R41 aggressive/efficient and that would only be a 4-5 on the Futur, interesting to try the Futur on 6, it would be a very careful shave that on 6 I bet 🤣.
PaulHFilms Think I probably would go with the gold Paul, as it would just be totally different to the chrome finish of my R41 and my matt finish of my Rockwell 6S.

Y vry daring, Paul, the Futur at 6 has a blade gap of '1,65mm'... 34c = .71, DE89 = .76 as comparison. Vry brave indeed.

Vry well so. Fyi the Mergress at max 5 is .94mm gap, but shaves comfortably. with identical result. I've traded my long handle Mergress with Friendship Mark, maybe be can lend it to y, so y can test yrself. I use mostly KAI blades, they're thicker, lesser flex, similar sharp as feather. Expensive though, but one pays for what he gets.

Paul, you have more mentholated soaps than I have soaps (although, admittedly, not by much. I confess to a little PAD). My own preference for aggressiveness is that, after a certain point, more aggressiveness simply becomes increasingly dangerous without a corresponding increase in performance or experience. For me, if the blade noticeably vibrates, one's gone past reasonable: the blade is so exposed that's it's just unsafe for want of reliable controlability, so that even small errors in technique can easily produce large injuries. (By way of comparison, n.b. that even a straight razor's blade won't seriously vibrate.) The way this video describes the high setting on the Futur, it seeemd like this boundary was passed. Agree? Anyone have views on all this? I'd really like to know.
The more aggressive (blade exposure) will produce greater risk of cuts, but, this is how the confidence comes into play for me, you have to keep the razor moving, gently. However you can never say you won't cut yourself, it just happens sometimes.....maybe others will add to this with there views Edward, many thanks :-)

Have you noticed that your videos are 10 minutes longer without a goatee and mustache? Imagine how long it takes the guys who make the various products to shave considering they have full faces of hair - 5 minutes?! 4 minutes of that is preparing the lather!
Yes, I have noticed, and you can also add 2 hours for set up before filming, editing and uploading to that...lol.
The strongest Menthol I have is the Stirling Glacial Black Cherry. I've only used it on my legs but will be featuring it in an upcoming video. I felt cheated when I used a Chiseled Face Cryogen Sample as it had lost its KICK but don't feel like buying a whole tub to retry it to see if it makes me weep like it does others lol.

Thank you Chai Man, I just spread the croap at the bottom of the lather bowl, wet/damp brush and start lathering, you will be able to tell, if it needs more water adding as you go.
