I tinkered with this deck a lot, when it came out I unironically played Charging Gaia the Fierce Knight in it because it was searchable and could replace itself, it also gave the deck another target for Set Rotation before the Drytron fieldspell got forced into it. It was no Benten, it wasn't even a quarter of a Benten but it was quite funny. During the HalqDon days i played it with Punks because if you draw multiples of the level 8s you could pitch them for cost, you could even use them for Tzolkin plays in your main combo, or use a Coral Dragon and a Tetherwolf with one token on field to make Polari if you didn't open any Ursarctics. Ursarctic will be far stronger if Konami gives support around Grand Chariot, and not the floodgate. If this deck has multiple ways to summon Grand Chariot at least twice in the opponent's turn. This deck can give more impactful disruption from destroying 2 cards on summon, not OPT, and the targeting protection too. I believe this approach will be more fun and playable.
Dude, Cimo got depressed when he couldn't beat an optimized modern Ursarctics deck with a masochist deck of randomized cards on Master Duel. If that's not an indication of the state the deck is in, I don't know what is
With Ursarctic being printed in 05/2021 they made 'level 7' tribute requirement to stop Benten abbuse following Drytron's stint of playability. Despite coming out after Dogmatika Fleur-de-lis, the level 8's didnt get the same treatmemt of making the summon and disrupt the same effect to make them actually spell speed 2.
A fun bit about one of the most obvious problems with ursarctic, especially first wave, was the decision to have the 8s be interruption and the 7s be extension. It might seem innocuous, but to do the combo in engine you have to summon 2 8s and 1 7, meaning you go -3 over all, to end on half of a skill drain, where as if the 8s went even, you'd only go -1 and with the 8s also having larger stats on board, it'd also help with getting interrupted as you could go even filling the board with large men instead of consistently negging. I don't think it'd make the deck meta or anything, but it'd feel so much better at least.
