  • Joey Travolta is best known as the older brother of Hollywood legend John Travolta, but he is a star in his own right. After getting a degree as a special education teacher, he decided to try his hand at performing. He started his career in Hollywood as a singer (a very good one I might add), he recorded some terrific songs written by the likes of Bette Midler, Carol Bayer Sager and Peter Allen to name a few. He appeared on "THe Mike Douglas Show" in 1979 singing his hit single "I Don't Wanna Go" (which can be seen here on youtube). In the summer of 1979, he made the leap to feature films making his feature debut in 1979's gang drama "Sunnyside". He then moved onto directing and is currently teaching film making to students with special needs.
Also included after the initial tribute, are 3 more of his best songs "I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love"; he sang this Carol Bayer Sager/Peter Allen ballad on his 1978 debut lp "Joey Travolta". This beautiful song has been recorded by Carol Bayer Sager, Rita Coolidge, Debby Boone, Dusty Springfield and countless others, "Steal Away Again"; he sang this Bette Midler/Carol Bayer Sager/Bruce Roberts ballad on his 1978 debut lp "Joey Travolta". This beautiful song has been recorded by the Divine one herself Bette Midler,Carol Bayer Sager, Bruce Roberts, Lisa Hartman and countless others, and "I'm Coming Home Again". Travolta sang this Carol Bayer Sager/Bruce Roberts ballad on his 1979 lp "I Can't Forget You". He proves here once again, that he was a singer that really deserved a bigger career. Enjoy!
