- Undefeated boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr will fight mixed martial arts superstar Conor McGregor on 26 August. Both fighters are expected to earn upwards of $100m each but beyond that why are they fighting? Both fighters stand to risk a lot in this one-off bout, so we take a fair look at the ins and outs of the match up.

No, Floyd gets 300+ millions, Connor less than 100. That's because it's MAYWEATHER'S PROMOTIONS. Not just the purse for the fight, but the actual event is promoted by Floyd. Most of the PPV money is Floyd's money.

McGregor has one of the best IQ in fighting, he reads his opponents and then land his shots, he moves differently fueled with good distance management. but hey Floyd's has the best defence and that's what made him the best at his game. it's gonna be interesting nonetheless
Adi Ridhwan he fights every opponent differently. there was a video breaking down each of his fights and like you said he reads his opponents habits and lands a counter. but floyd also does that so this fight will be interesting.
Floyds ring IQ is unmatched. his ability to analyze adapt and adjust is why hes undefeated after 20 years and after beatinf more world champions than anyother fighter in history

McGregor's Power on 90??? More like 40 after seeing that fight... Those little hammerfists and pillow punches may work on MMA guys... But boxers train to make their punches more efficient, sit on their punches with their whole body, and train much more to take very hard punches and many of them for 12 rounds. McGregor only managed to land that one left uppercut on Mayweather which he barely seemed phased by in the first round. Mayweather has been hit much harder by many real power punchers and faster south paws. The fact that people even thought McGregor's boxing speed and skill was anywhere near Mayweather's--an undefeated boxing champion-- is such a laughable disrespect to the science of boxing. People just want to get cognitive dissonance and chalk up all over Mayweather's wins to "running around" or "Fixing" all his fights just because they seen a few of his last fights out of his prime. Mayweather embarassed a lot of our favorite boxers and made them look amateur especially in hiss prime. He just really is the definition of a pure boxer that uses skill and calculation. He may struggle with reading books, but he definitely can read his opponent like a book and that spatial intelligence is what got him this far.

Imagine if Floyd were to come in and fight McGregor MMA style. Mayweather wouldn't stand a chance walking into Conner's world. But the exact opposite is happening to Conner he is entering Mayweather's world. The world in which he has never lost in. He has trained for decades. For this one specific skill set of boxing.
