Thanks so much for that note at the beginning. It is a double sided thing(honoring the past and participating in what is, right now), and we can hold them both if we can carefully consider them both. There's no need to be completely stoic and wade totally in the past, and we have to respectfully have fun and live in the moment. This vlog is also so great, I really appreciate the maps and details you made sure to share so we could get there. Can't wait for my first trip to Salem someday.
Thank you for being respectful! I’m sure a lot of actual witches do feel it’s a magical place and I would think so to if I ever visited but it’s beautiful that you paid tribute to those who lost their lives over ignorance. I’m glad you answered on my Halloween post.
This was a such a detailed video. So helpful for the trip my wife and I are planning with friends in a couple years. Hopefully everything is still open! Thank you so much for sharing!!
It's Fall, and I'm crazy binge watching many Salem Ma vids . Your video was one of the best ,very informative on which places to visit, where to eat and learn a little about the history of Salem. This place is on my bucket list also. Love it. 😍😘😙🍁🍁🍁🍂🐱🍂🍊🍂🍁🍁🍊
I stayed on the third floor of the Salem Inn in March of 2009, the former home of Captain Nathaniel West (built in 1834). One night, around 3AM, someone touched my foot, but when I looked down at the foot of the bed there was no one there. The next morning I learned from the front desk that paranormal investigators were occupying the second floor. They explained that whenever paranormal investigators are present, whatever's there usually moves to areas where the investigators aren't allowed to be.
Lots of great information! I have a trip planned for August with my sister. We are staying in Boston, renting a car and doing trips to Salem and Lizzie Borden's house.
I loved strolling the residential areas just to take in the architecture. And there are so many good places to eat, like Red's Sandwich shop - a great greasy-spoon coffee shop for breakfast and lunch. There was also a great Indian restaurant called Passage to India near Riley Plaza.
great video. i think its a beautiful thing to turn tragedy into memorialization and celebration. in a lot of ways its a good thing to celebrate as we do now. a lot of the witch accusers and judges would dislike our celebration, its a great way to thumb our noses at their judgement and honor those that died.
Great vlog! I know some of the town names can be awkward so if you'll allow me to assist: Gloucester: Gloss-ter Peabody: Pee-budi Worcester: Woos-ter Hope you get to come back up! we have more shops nowadays and Essex Street in September can't be beat!
Thanks so much! And thanks for (kindly) helping me out with the pronunciations! In my defense, I looked up how to say Gloucester but still managed not to do it right! Lol! Thanks for watching!
@@SpookUms Moved here from Iowa, so I definitely know the names can be hard for outsiders lol, and I was unlucky enough to find out most of these names pronunciations via people shouting at me, so any chance I get to tell people in a nice way how to pronounce these names, I take it. :)
Saw this posted on HW Forum and I must say, I loved this video. I've always wanted to visit Salem and this was such a great way to start getting an idea of what a future trip could entail. Thank you for the time and work you out into putting this together. 🧙♀️
Thank you for This video! Well done! I usually can’t keep focus for too long, but this was super helpful and easy to watch/listen to :) We’re going back next weekend (staying in Marblehead) so we’re gonna check out a few of these placard that we didn’t see before!
Thanks. as a north eastern girl i had to laugh a bit when you said we had accents ( not I but most northerners get mad when you say that) all that aside this is a very informative and i appreciate your effort.
Thank you for this video. The hubs and I just decided to vacation in Salem in October 2021 and your video is so informative! I’ve started a Salem vlog folder to refer back to and yours is the second I’ve added (a great Hocus Pocus filming locations video was the first). You did an incredible job. Thanks again!
Swampscott is where I stayed but I'd also check out places in Beverly and Marblehead. Marblehead has the cemetery from Hocus Pocus if that interests you!
Check out my comment at top it'll probably help you on a trip. A tip: if you can; salem takes a min.of 2 and a half days closer to a week to get full experience. Plan well there's so much to do.
The Witches Brew Cafe is not RIGHT across the street. It is two blocks away. As you said, Witch Way Cafe is right across the street and it is an awesome gift shop.
I visited that museum. The presentation is scary. I was traumatized. Never went back again. Salem city is very beautiful city and scary at the same time. Nights in the summer are busy and fun. Winter is terrified!
Thank you for this video!! I am planning a trip here soon and I am wondering if everything here is open and enjoyable during June or July?? I would hate to go and everything is closed lol.
You're welcome! So the Halloween type events won't be going on but the stores and the museums will be open in June and July. There will definitely still be things to do and stuff to see.
Witch house, omen Magick shop, are worth checking out but there's a castle in Glouster thats amazing. Salem brewery, melt ice cream, ugly mug kokeshi noodles and Caramel French patisserie are a must. One of the best tours is the witch walk it includes a rite and practicing real witch tour guide. Ghost tours is also worth it . I didn't care for witch history museum because you get same info. From most tours. Trolley is also a must you get major part of Salem quickly with some history plus one ticket for whole day on/off travel it saves you so much time. I hope you didn't miss the castle in Gloucester. Best if you have reliable travel its a beautiful area just bad cell phone signal; literally between Ocean and trees. One last thing there are many hidden things in salem like speak easies, popup shops and tours not in booklets and only offered by shops so take time to really visit. Even the Peabody Essex museum is great one of the best I've been to. And for another way to travel is ferry easy to get to and from salem to Boston. Boston is awesome for donuts, history, seafood and ballpark. If visit salem Boston is a must. Ferry was quicker and cheaper than taxi plus they serve drinks and you get nautical history of salem and Boston.
I looked at the Gloucester castle but they were going to be closed when we would've had a chance to go! Yes, I really wish we'd been able to see it! Also I had a morning planned in Boston but then my flight got bumped up from 6pm to like 2pm so we didn't really have time unfortunately! Thanks for adding your suggestions!
Curse you (not really) for this video. The candy store looked sooooooo good, and I replayed it for my mom and I (we're visiting/staying in salem this halloween! :D) and she was like "YOU CAN ORDER THE CANDY ONLINE?! Forget waiting until Halloween, we're getting some now!" and now, my pre healthy eating until October goes out the window xD bye bye "diet"
this was a fun comprehensive journey vlog! I do agree with you too that the history should always come first before the consumerism. Though my pagan ass ransacked as much as I can from the stores. Though I didn't purchase from Hex cause the owner is shady as fuckkkkk
hmm! I sorta have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to HEX now too. I asked permission from HEX to use some pictures from their Facebook for my video. They asked to see my channel and then never responded again, lol. I guess I wasn't a big enough "youtube star" to be worth their time. LOL! I mean, they could've just said no!
