    My dad gave me a leatherman wave in 2005 I have used it everyday and carried it everyday. 12 years as a paramedic and occasional firefighter. Countless times ears landscaping(the trade my dad taught me) as a diver/ aquaculture technician and as a carpenter building barns and toolsheds. My dad died suddenly in April very suddenly and the tool he gave me was on my hip for the wake and the funeral. A few months ago the problem you made this video about started happening and I was beyond terrified to mail the tool my dad gave me years and years ago that I cherished as a link to him from Rhode Island to Washington state. Tonight I found your video and I was able to retension the tool myself. I don’t need to send it and it’ll stay right here with me safe as I use it working , camping, hunting, fishing and trapping. I’m crying as I type this but I need to thank you for this video. From the bottom of my heart thank you i know this sounds dramatic but it means more than I can express. Thank you

      My dad never gave me a Leatherman, but it doesn't matter, the favorite I have was discontinued, and I cannot send it back for repair, as they would send me a different model as a replacement! It has the perfect set of tools that I love! If you ever break a tool on the one your Dad gave you and want to repair it, consider buying one just like it on Ebay and replacing the broken piece from the donor. If you can use a Leatherman, you can repair it, and nobody can replace the one your Father gave to you!!!

      BTW, I wish I could give your comment a heart, for you and your Dad.

      Thank you for sharing this story. Great news to hear that you were able to fix your Leatherman. There are some things that are priceless, and the memory of your Father will always be with you through that Leatherman. I recommend buying a replacement when you have some extra money and store your fathers somewhere safe. Take care.

    I’ve got no problems with my Wave+, but I’m trying to learn as much as I can about maintaining it and servicing it, so I appreciate this video. It’s always good to learn a useful tip.

    Paid almost $90 for my leatherman to be disappointed to find out it did not work properly.
    You just made my day, it works perfectly now. Your awesome!

    Thank you so much for this. I’m in Malaysia and it would have been impossible for me to claim the warranty on this to get it fixed. Thanks to you my wave is once again perfect. After this craziness is over and you ever find yourself in Malaysia, hit me up and I’m buying dinner! Thank you so much and stay safe.

    Thanks! I squeezed mine too hard trying to crimp wire connector. Heard a pop, and one side went really floppy. Watched this video.. Took a punch and gave it a healthy tap and it's as good as new again. Thanks so much for this tip!

      Same here,
      I did tap but didn't get the result

    • @jhgindia
      @jhgindia 4 года назад

      That pop, when closely inspected was crack on handle near the saw liner

    • @snifftheshark
      @snifftheshark 3 года назад

      @@jhgindia same thing mines also cracked. Doing the punch still seems to make it usable. I'm gonna get some security bits and try to JB weld the crack.

    I have the opposite problem on my Rebar. Once the handles are opened all the way, like they need to be to use the pliers, it's very difficult to get them closed again. It seems to be rubbing in the exact area where yours is too loose. Is there a way increase that space, maybe get a thin flat tool and pry it out a little?

    Thank you for this!!! My Wave+ has had this problem for several months, I thought it was because I tried to cut too heavy of a wire. Because I don't have a good bench vice to set it in, I used a center punch set loosely for hot wheels post removal to punch in that part, the good thing, is if I have to do it again in the future, I already have a point to put the punch on lol

    I dropped my Wave+ on the wooden floor. When it’s closed, it sort of “bends” a bit. Is that normal? Are there ways of tightening it again?

    Hi,
    A word of caution if you are thinking of trying the adjustment to your tool, I done as instructed , the first side worked well but in doing the second side the frame broke, maybe I don't know my own strength but joking aside be careful not to strike too hard.
    There is a happy ending to this story, I sent my Wave to leatherman & got a new Wave + as a replacement, still cost me £7.30 to send special delivery.
    Good luck!

    Hi, one question to all wave owners. I got a new Wave one week ago and it already has the problem that is shown in this video. Is it normal? show I return it? or will I have the same problem again? Thanks in advance for any good advices. And thanks for this video!

    • @RedlineGarageHW

      I would do what is shown, unless you do not own a bench vice, a center punch works nicely (set loosely) if you do not own a bench vice, I just used one on my wave+ tonight after watching this vid lol

    I would rather just take advantage of the 25 year warranty. I do have multiple Leatherman's so I can part with one for a little while til they either fix it or replace it.
