Thank you so much for sharing this. I am a huge fan of Grouper and I just cannot put it into words how much I resonated with all that you said. Again, thanks a lot. Really enjoyed the video.
People say beach house all sounds the same. Some people just are too used to the explosive musical landscape we are in today that the quiet and haziness of dreampop, ambient, ethereal wave, drone etc. arent gonna appeal to some
got my sub. you hit the nail on the head when no one is digging into her discog like this. grouper has been a huge part of my life for the last six months, her music is often looked over & people don't realize how deep it is
Grouper has been my biggest inspiration in my art, I make self improvement videos but have so many grouper songs in my videos, I know I'm definitely the only self improvement RUclipsr with grouper songs playing in background haha
Way Their Crept is the greatest album of the time (the CD of it is my pfp) The most magical feeling is listening to Way Their Crept high in cold weather in a completely empty area I can confirm
Wonderful video. I think Cover the Windows and the Walls will always be my favorite as it beautifully bridges her more stripped down ambient noise with her somewhat more structured and more focused work with a greater variety of sonic textures. An Opened Space explores such an incredible place, impossible to ever inhabit. But I can’t really pick a definitive favorite across all her own work and her split releases and collaborations and Nivhek etc I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on her work as Nivhek
Thank you for writing this, I got into grouper through ruins first, then grid of points, and I’m still exploring the rest of her work, almost held back by my love for what I have already heard. Thank you for this, the way you crafted this video perfectly reflects grouper and the tones it sets for so many of us.
this is a really lovely video. hearing someone else talking about their own connection to one of my favourite things has helped to make me feel less alone today. thank you for making this.
Amazing video, truly touching and insightful. Thank you for making this. Grouper has been one of my favourite artists for a while now, and this video has made me appreciate her a lot more.
At 14:50 you used the word "equivocal" when I'm quite sure you meant to say "equivalent", regarding the relationship between the artist and the art. They're almost opposite meanings: "equivocal" means ambiguous, uncertain, and possibly misleading. It threw me off, and is likely a simple mistake, but I think it reveals a deeper meaning to your analysis. There's an inherent tension in not knowing the artist, despite connecting to the art so intimately.
I don't think being in your room is healthy for you, trust me I'm a introvert, there's healthy ways to be alone like spending time out in nature, I spent years locked in my room and my depression got out of control in those years
U can't imagine how much my pleasure i got when i see some vids or just something about my favorite artists made by fans ❤️
i absolutely love grouper the feeling her music gives me is unexplainable
Grouper is number one most playing on my Spotify for 4 years.

Thank you so much for watching. Glad you were able to get something out of it
I highly recommend everyone here to give meditation a try, it gives me the same vibe that Grouper does, very healthy productive habit
Yeah I sometimes have to meditate to slow my inner suicidal ideations. I gotta pretty debilitating mental condition as of l8
Very grateful for this video here in social isolation
In this video, i have found my Grouper

great video essay. i saw grouper ~decade a go and I've never seen an artist so hostile with the house sound, it was something.

The man who died in his boat is underrated
