    Let us not forget that this is the track where this man almost died. Getting back in a race car here after that incident takes balls in my opinion.

    And here (points to fence at 170 mph) is where I got really close with the crowd while driving a truck!. Geoff has always been one of my favorite drivers!

      It really is seeing him be the main part of arguably the worst NASCAR wreck of all time.
      Idk if it's his wreck or the 37-car pileup being the worst crash.

      Was there for it. Was up near the top of stands, but he hit directly in front of us. Could feel the heat from the fireball.

      @@waden404 I was in the GMAC/Pontiac suite in the Winston Tower and had a full field of view of the carnage. Thought Geoff was gone; damned glad he was OK.

    Dale was my favorite but I always loved Geoff as well, he was pure hell in the day of the Hoosier Tires. Great racer, super cool guy God bless him and his family

    Awesome, never let out of it, that is fun. I remember when I won a Napa driving challenge and got to go to Charlotte and drive. It was awesome. Much respect for the driver's.

      Me to. Great races against Maynard, Ritchie and the rest of the Spencer gang. Sadly I missed racing there from 67-70 while in the Navy.

      @@B25gunship -- Spencer and Lancaster were my favorite tracks. I wrote for Gater Racing News as a teenager, met Maynard, Richie, Geoff...what a thrill.

      Yes !! He , Hoosier, and Exide batteries were so dangerous with Paul Williams , lapped whole field like couple of times at North Wilksboro track in 93 or better yet 94

    I got to do that a few years ago. You really don't realize how fast you are going until you are no longer going straight. The corners almost made me pass out. Now imagine doing that 25-30 mph faster, with 40 more cars out there.

      How the hell would you know if the NASCAR was Unrestricted.
      These cars only hit 150 , not worth the 3k to 5k for a few laps .

      @@mrj3217 it’s not a NASCAR , that’s a sanctioning body. This is a racecar , how would I know? I’ve driven one at Daytona to 167 mph. The era this car ran and the circumstances it’s being recorded under lead an educated and experienced racing fan/enthusiast to believe just that, unless you have information to the contrary.

      Actually she was telling him the entire time to “stop, quit it, cut it off, no stop” you could see her hands. That would be so annoying for someone to agree to ride just to do that the entire time.

    They need to show some restarts like this.. to get a really good sensation of speed.. that was awesome.. I'd just about kill to sit in that passenger seat.... for about 20 laps in a real competition race

    I love it. This is what this man did for so many years and he gets the chance to take his wife to work with him. She what's him to slow down but she is riding with one of the greatest drivers of all time. I'm a firefighter and would love to be able to take my wife in a house fire to show her what drives me to do what I love. So dam cool.

      I saw Geoff Bodine lap the entire field including Dale Earnhardt at N. Wilkesboro with Hoosier tires in 1994 and the week after he was killing it again at Charlotte before blowing the motor coming out of his final pit stop.

    Nice in cockpit footage. I’ve done my share of laps at Daytona, but only on 2 wheels. I wouldn’t mind having a test drive of this car. Sorry to say, I have never been to or watched a NASCAR race. One of these days….

      That’s a “experience” car, it’s got a 6000 rpm limit chip on in the Msd ignition (red box) on the right side. Notice the zip tie around the little white chip to keep you from removing it. This car probably has an out of the box crate engine in it due to novices driving it for the “experience”. 6000 is nothing for a race engine those turn 7800 with restrictor plates, 9500 without for 500 miles.

    Well he sure made that look easy. Someone had the car setup quite well for him. They must have ran some laps and made adjustments before he climbed in it. He still has it even after his bad experience there.

    This is so great. Looks like Bodine could still wheel a car well. Wonder why they only go 170...sure the racing experience throttles the cars back a bit for safety. Man I wanna be in one and always have since 1990.

    I don't know much about nascar being an aussie but i really dig that the driver still 'drives' the car and from what i've seen they're a real hand full. Kudos to the passenger, it takes some guts to get in one.
