In the early 90's, Gilmour was able to crack through the media and fan pressure in Toronto. This current lineup is missing that kind of role player.

It would be big for us Leaf Playoff Supporters if the Leafs could at least earn a game 2 split. They could feel good about the whole Leaf squad themselves. 😀

Great to see JD let a guest speak. I've avoided his pod after hearing one too many of his long-winded opinions. This was much better. Hope he keeps it up because I like that he got to the culture issue. I also wish we heard more about this, the psychological part of the game, and what an actual NHL coach who refuses to accept the victim mentality we all tend to attribute to this Leafs team.

Great interview, but he also did say that we haven’t won a series in years and not saying that we made it that far but last year we literally did

If you can't beat'em, join'em. Maybe a guy like Claude Julien could import a bit of that Boston culture and structure to the Leafs. God knows they could do a lot worse, if they get rid of Keefe (and they probably will). Julien has won a Cup and has no problem coaching in a tough, demanding hockey market - Montreal, Boston. Why not Toronto?

LMFAO! So people still don't recognize that the Leafs have a tradition of starting their off season in early May? If you took whatever team will win the cup this year, and put them in Leaf uniforms right now, they would be out at the end of the first round too.
I am a Leaf fan, and always have been. One that has the ability to recognize a pattern of abject failure.

Maybe drop marner down to 3rd line for a period see what happens. No pouting just nasty ass hockey. Go gettem boys we need this one. And listen make contact at your blue line separate the man from the puck, but stay with that guy don't let him sneak in behind. And just get the puck out no fancy passing. North South hockey. Let's win 3,1.

How much of this game plan is blamed on the coaching staff? Yes the players came out and showed a lot of emotion and wanted to set the tone physically but is it not the coaches job to tell his players alright “lets play our game!”. I also felt Montgomery severely out coached Keefe and I understand it’s only game one but I can’t be the only one sick of Keefe being out coached series after series. Even tho we beat Tampa last year Cooper took Keefe to the wood shed thru out that series and against Florida Maurice out did the same. I like Keefe as a coach but I feel it’s LONG past time for change. Hes broughten us as far as he can now let’s let someone else take it over. Same way Dwayne Casey led the Raps before he was replaced by Nick Nurse.
