Something that helps me to get back on task is playing music - smooth/bossa nova jazz. I like that there are no words, it relaxes me, and allows me to push through my tasks.
Thank you for putting a name to this. I never knew what it was. I am normally a very productive person even in retirement. I knew I was not depressed, or sick, I just couldn't get going. Sometimes it takes a while to actually recognize it. Once I do, I will ask the Holy Spirit help me overcome it.
I am so thankful I happened to see your channel and watch this particular video. I started going into freeze mode about 11 years ago after a series of traumatic events. I had always been a planner, chaos organizer, and able to plan short-term and long-term projects. I beat myself up every single day for being lazy, even though I know that’s not what the real issue is. This made me feel hopeful. I subscribed and am looking forward to your next post.
I appreciate how you said that sometimes just getting out of bed, turning the tv off, etc. is tough. So something as small as opening up your planner is a start. Literally one baby step in front of the other is very real!
I lust LOVE making those lists! I’m an expert at those BIG annual goals and listing out all those neat and effective “next steps” (that I subsequently avoid like the plague!) 🤣❤
These are great suggestions. I utilize the planning around self care and just adding priorities. If I do that for a couple of days I feel like I’m ready to jump back into my routine. I also add a 10-15 minute Pilates session to ground me and reconnect my head and my core. Also I find that just getting out for a walk or a drive can clear my head and I can literally feel the “ wall “ falling away.
This is so helpful. Between my job that is always stressful and my new puppy, I think that everything got so overwhelming and I've been in freeze mode for over 6 months. I just look around and dread because there seems to be so much to catch up on!
One the things I do to help to me unfreeze is put on my favorite music and do the task or watch something very inspirational and uplifting. Those things seem to help me unfreeze. And thinking about the Big picture (the Why of what I'm doing) seems to help. So far I've completed reading two books, so I'm happy about reaching that goal. I need to keep in my to be patient with myself and patient with my plan and not give up. From Kingsville, Ohio ❤ ♥ 😊
A simple thing like my car being in the shop for a week put me in freeze mode. I finally pulled out today by making a list of what’s going right! Everything from working plumbing to the beautiful wedding ring I get to wear. It works to force your self to feel grateful.
I love this! YES! Routine tasks, especially. Sometimes I get out a broom and sweep, or put six things away. This gets me upright, on my feet and mentally moving. I imagine these things as swirling the energy around. It’s just a metaphor, but it seems to help me get going.
I've never heard of "freeze mode". I do this a lot, make lists of things to do and not do them. Like, I have purchased everything I need to do a quick redo in my small master bath. Peel and stick floor tiles and peel and stick ceiling tiles, but I can't get started on it! I am retired so there is no reason for me to NOT finish this, but I keep stressing about it. I will have to try the brain dump, tfs this!
I needed to hear that because I've been going through the same thing. I've been trying to do something a little everyday to get unstuck. When I don't open my planner I do feel like I'm being lazy. So lately I've been trying to change my routine. Thanks for letting me know that I'm not alone.
I haven’t quite gotten out of freeze yet however one thing that I am realizing that I need to do is include my children more. Some things that I might consider me time like stretching can be done with my toddlers as well and it’s a benefit to them. So overall revisioning self care
For me, sometimes it's lighting one of my favorite scented candles (Balsm Fir) and turning on instrumental Christmas music. The nostalgia of it calms me enough that I can refocus and restructure my day.
Thank you for this video! You have no idea how timely this is. This was me yesterday. I had mapped out what I wanted and needed to do that day and just could not get in gear. I had a decent night's sleep, so that wasn't it. I wasn't emotionally upset or anything, so that wasn't it. I just couldn't move. Now I can pray into this and recognise it when it happens rather than beating myself up that I didn't get anything done. Is there a book on this anyone could recommend? I've just checked out the hashtag and "stuck" can mean different things.
Planning is my hobby, I live a full life it makes me happy to see a full planner and sad to see an empty one but all my task gets don’t regardless if I write down or not.
Read Scriptures for 10min followed by 5min of prayer, then go for a walk and return and write a simple entry in my journal/planner, writing to myself and to the Lord. Take a quick shower!
I don't know if you have a video on this or not, but could you possibly do one on what it look like to redo your day, if that makes sense. For my myself ill even get overwhelmed just looking at it and it's not "neat" enough or there's too much going on so I need to rewrite it. But I dont know how to or i dont want to loose all my papers. Also this was an amazing watch. Thank you sm for making videos like this! It really helps put things into perspective.
Hi Alaina I just watched your RUclips video from 4 years ago called How I use my Happy Planner for my small business! And wow it’s exactly what Iam looking for, Iv tried so many planners and end up tossing them! I was going to order the planner you showed from Amazon but was hoping and praying I could get the inserts you showed in the video?
I plan my goals for a given week, and then make a 5-item To-do list the night before for the next day. Sometimes I may have to break down a larger task into smaller, more doable parts over several days, especially if it's a task that's necessary and also frustrating.
#Q How many accounts should we have? I have several things being deposited into different accounts….should all of that go into one account vs several ones?! I follow you on RUclips and wasn’t too sure if you were going to respond back. Do you offer 1 on 1 help? I’m so frustrated with with setting up my monthly budget!!😖😵💫
I am right there with you! My account, his account, our account, the business account. I’m so overwhelmed and need to streamline but don’t know where to start. 😵💫
Hey. So it depends on how you want your accounts to flow. I have 5 accounts. My Business, Bills, Spending, Short Term Savings, and Long Term Savings. All of my money comes into my business account and then I divide it up. I do offer 1 on 1 coaching. What a great idea! I’m going to have to try that one. I’m sure it calms your nervous system. Love this tip
I agree thank you for the reminder.

So true. Sometimes you don't even realize, that you are in a funk. Meditating, praying and giving yourself grace is all a part of the process.

I do NOTHING but write in my planner no action 😂😂😂
Definitely have done that as well
Girl, me too
Preach! 😂

😂😂😂
I love how you say that we are not lazy & unmotivated, that makes me feel better whenever I feel that way. 🥰💙

Yes! White space and take a walk has helped me so much in the past

I've used Ms. Alaina's tip on starting with something simple and small and it works and gets me into the flow. Next up restructuring!
So happy that it worked for you!! ☺️

Along this line, one thing that helps me is lighting one of my favorite scented candles. It brings nostalgia and calmness.

Yes, this happens to me too. If something bad happens then I start seeing everything through a negative lens. Great idea to think of the good things
Oh, that’s a beautiful attitude right there! Plumbing…..yes ma’am, that is indeed a wonder.❤

Like Alaina said, maybe you can break the tasks down into small steps and start doing something little by little to get momentum.

Thanks this really helps. Sometimes I will watch you tube then do a task
Soooo…..I’m not the only one who does this? Whew.
For me, sometimes it's lighting one of my favorite scented candles (Balsm Fir) and turning on instrumental Christmas music. The nostalgia of it calms me enough that I can refocus and restructure my day.
The way I needed this video. Glad it came up in my feed today.
I need this. I did nothing yesterday. And woke up with low blood pressure this morning. Sometimes we just need to rest.

I feel your pain on this. Especially that “beating myself up” part. Why oh WHY do we do this to ourselves? Good luck to you!
thank you for this video!!! it definitely helps to know I'm not the only one. Great tips on getting out of the freeze👌🏽
Perfect topic to start off a new month coming thanks👍🏾✌🏾
Thank you for these tips!! That is exactly where I am today.
Thank you for the great tips!! I usually make myself get up and do one simple task to help me to get motivated.
You are so welcome! Yes. I agree. One thing can get you started.

ADHD paralysis. Actually, stimulation for the Vegas nerve kicks on parasympathetic nerve system and it resets the brain
Great point! Thank you.
Some time I feel like I have adhd when doing things off my to do list

Where can I find the content plan in your thumbnail
I'll try your suggestions cuz when I'm in freeze mode, I struggle to even get it off bed
Yes. Thats the hardest part

Flip a coin on any 2 actions ( bath or book count) or Set a timer for 24 minutes for any activity - again sewing vs cleaning- let fate decided
