      Scenario #1: Keely and Mu both make the Olympic final, Keely wins gold without a PR (like 1:56), but Mu has a poor showing and fades to the back half of the pack (running something like 1:59).

To think that she would be an obvious medal contender and should’ve gotten an automatic bid just because of her record and win three whole years ago is just nonsense. It used to be that the governing bodies of sports took an aggressive stance on preventing doping but that is no longer the case. The professional doping efforts have stayed well ahead of testing technology. Michael Phelps just testified in front of Congress a week ago about how rampant doping has become and that public funding is needed for the anti doping testing organizations.

      @RyanCanty1975 3 месяца назад

      @@igloozoo3771 Well, she came back from her hamstring injury. And, she didn't choose to get boxed in. I watched the race a few times and Athing basically tried to move into the inside but she got clipped by Raven Rodgers. It wasn't intentional. It just happened. There wasn't any room for anyone to move and no one was giving anyone else space to do so (when normally they do). So, she didn't chose to get boxed in. She tried to move to the inside, but she had no room to do so and fell. It happens. But, even if she hadn't fallen, she didn't seem like she was at 100%. And, I hope that we do see her at Diamond League events this summer. But, I also hope that she mentally regroups and is a better space to run. Athing (and many athletes) have been saying they aren't having fun, they aren't enjoying running, etc. I think that can be just as difficult to overcome as a physical injury. So, who knows? But, I am sure Athing will recover and be fine and be back stronger than ever in the future.

      I'd feel bad for any runner in this case but given that Mu would have been in the top 3 (in all likelihood) and is the defending Olympic champ, it's even more unfortunate we won't get to see her line up in Paris. Good luck to Nia Akins,

    Athing Mu was deliberately tripped in her race, in my opinion. If you look at the runner behind and to her left, you can see she unnaturally puts her right foot in front of Mu's left foot as Mu is bringing her left foot forward. In my opinion, it sure looks deliberate. It is certainly an unnatural right foot placement by the runner behind. I'm just giving my opinion on what I see in the video.
