I remember crossing the sunda strait when krakatoa erupted (it was one of the big eruption, produced a tsunami actually ), it was magnificent, just rocks and ash rising to the sky, covering the clouds with its ashes, just magnificent.
@@Ham_meow9 i just hear subtle thunder sounds, but the smoke is very much visible. 3 days later or so the entire volcano collapsed, it has resurfaced recently though. I was just glad it wasn't Merapi (because then I'd have to wear a mask due to the abundance of ashes, yes that happened.)
And also very dangerous considering how loud it was because from what I heard people died from the noise and shockwaves because it caused internal bleeding from the Krakatoa and some went deaf, it’s shockwaves also traveled the earth 3 times.
@@A_random_MJ_fan That was during 1880s or so, the magma chamber is still not full enough to do something like that but it is guaranteed to happen within 400 years
Imagine 1883 when the mountain was ten times that tall and blew off with the loudest sound in recorded history and the shock waves traveling seven times around the globe. I stood on the beach there in 2008 and did just that -- tried to imagine it.
Hello. I am a KooHee reporter from SBS south Korea. Could I introduce your krakatua volcano movie in the our SBS news? we just use movie for disaster response. We will indicate the source of the image.
Rachel B it's called a REVERSE BOUNCE-BACK(R.B.B.) where the sound wave from the volcano bounces off the other islands cancelling itself out resulting in pure silence..this, unfortunately results in many surprised deaths!!
Clouds that are just water even can produce lightning because the droplets collide each other. Imagine the droplets are now debris and rocks, and you'd get volcano lightning
Today, merchant-surface vessels have clear visual of straits of melacca and straits of johor and straits of singapore. To rebound off sulawesi, they should maintain 15knts constant with constant flushing of ballast. Surface temperature is good for cleaning ballasts. Sub-surface is curly and narrow
Rudder against wind by 15deg for diagonal air-cross-flow. Surabaya and Sulawesi and Borneo and Mindanao are - not in-topic of krakatao area periscope photography videography.
0:53 is best shot of volcano I have ever seen.
Volcanic lightning has got to be the coolest thing ever
Don Worthley Jr I was just thinking that! Next to the eruption itself, of course...
Ball lightning would be cooler.
Absolutely breathtaking. The power of nature. Without volcanos we couldn’t exist.
It's humbling, and invigorating, when Nature reminds us who is in charge.

Just Amazing. Wild, Ugly, Beautiful, No words can really describe the beauty. And that thing is going to blow, No Doubt.
Super tolle Aufnahmen. 👍
What is your camera? It's extraordinary.
Just like my physical science project from ninth grade. Thanks Mrs. Taylor
Finally steady camera with great sound too
Oppenheimer Ranch project sent us. Great job
Amazing physics being played out here. Especially the lightening.
Just awesome, it reminds me the volcanoes of my region.
Fascinante simplemente magnífico y aterrador.

May I know...what sparks the lightning and how its developer?
Krakatoa Mount and Anak Krakatoa are different... "anak" means baby.. Anak Krakatoa Mountain is located on the same plate as Krakatoa
Beautiful - Powerful - Unsettling
I think one could accurately describe that as spectacular.
When did this happen?
Ah-ha oh wow I didn’t see a description, ty. I looked for it.
i am montagnard jarai tribe. love nature it’s looks so beautiful

In the one explosion you can hear the lightning crackle.
What causes the "lightning " effect in the plumes of debris and smoke?
Zeus
Oh, thank you.
@@filonin2 roflol
What actually causes the lightning is the continuous rubbing of the rocks in the smoke, it creates electricity. Same concept as rubbing a balloon.
It's no different than rain and hail rubbing against each other causing lightning in storms
Why can’t you hear the explosions? The camera can’t be that far away, can it?

That entire mountain top is gone now!!!!!
So when did it have landslide and made a tsunami
cool. I wouldn't be any where near that thing!
The deadly volcano ! How many people died cause it
About 400 people, 20 still missing, thousands are injured
