  • Sitting in the middle of an empty movie theater, Alan Nero describes how his father was able to transform an old building into a community landmark located in the small mountain town of Wilmet, Connecticut. The Gilson Cafe and Cinema, currently closed because of the pandemic, is the subject of Alan’s short film COVIDEO, a story about a father and a son, and their efforts to lift a town’s spirits via a theater marquee.
Alan Nero is a Brooklyn College Senior of the Television Radio and Emerging Media Department and a New York author. As a student, he's served as a co-writer for the Unproductive and All In Favor web series. In multimedia, he has created and produced the short films Dead and Covideo, as well as performed, recorded, and produced a demo for the local band, Topple Colossus. As an author, he first published The Book of Virgil, and is working on a future series entitled, One Among the Aftermath.
