- This video explores the abilities, powers, and origin of the Marvel Comics character "Doctor Doom." From Victor von Doom being born in the small kingdom of Latveria in Balkan Mountains of Eastern Europe, losing both his Healer father named Werner von Doom and witch mother named Cynthia when he was still young, growing to become exceptional in the Sciences and sorcery, meeting his future rival named Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic while at State University in America, a failed experiment and perceived betrayal by Reed sparking Victor's journey to becoming Doctor Doom, wielding a mystically embued titanium armor suit and iconic mask, developing psionic powers to compliment his formidable magical abilities and advanced technological expertise, to becoming one of the most powerful supervillains the Fantastic Four and the Marvel Universe has ever had; Let's take a look at this popular Marvel supervillain, and the extremely iconic villainous ruler of Latveria. This includes a short, canon character biography and my own opinionated "Sage Rating," which I use to give ratings of comic book and science fiction characters.

Magic is still magic even if you understand it and develop a science around it. Electricity did not stop being electricity after we learned to harness and understand it.

Darksied, Thanos, The Anti-Monitor etc. are arguably more powerful, but compare where/how guys like that started out. Victor Von Doom went from being a dirt poor orphan who was treated like vermin to b*tch slapping god-like cosmic identities and has held power (seized from The Beyonder, for example) to reshape reality at his whim. In terms of how far he's advanced, Doom eclipses (nearly) everybody on the field.

Doom is easily one of the best Marvel villains ever. People need to recognize him as the threat he is. Mans has taken on the Avengers and FF at the same time and won with little to no effort. Y’all better ask somebody about Doom

@@maverickslastoddworld6476 Yea that happened actually. When Magneto thought he could rip Doom's armor apart, Doom revealed he had a device in hos armor that reverses the magnetic forces, rendering Magneto's powers useless, then he made Magneto retreat.
Doom punched Mephisto in his face in his realm. That's bad ass and that's all we need to know. My top favorite heroes/villains. I see him more as a Anti villain. He believes he can make the world a better place by doing it his way

The fact that doom out played the interdimentional dieties that slaughtered all the cosmic entities and wiped em out then became the most powerful being ever is more than enough for a 10 rating

The greatest human villain of all comics.
Out of all the Marvel characters, Doom has my utmost respect. His only superpower is his genius and armor. But his will is superhuman. During the first secret wars, Doom gained a lot of power by stealing it from Galactus before he could consume that power after breaking down his worldship to consume for his battle with the Beyonder. The Beyonder defeated Doom and began to dissect him alive. Doom resisted a horrible agony that would have killed any other mortal and used his rigged battle armor to steal the Beyonder power. Pound for pound, Doom is the most formidable force in Marvel.
All I can say about Doom is...he literally resisted Purple Man mind control, and used it to take over the world, brought unheralded peace and equality and he only relinquished control because he was bored.

(P.S. Doom's armor somehow separates his physical from our world, which is probably how he survived a fatal attack from Thanos once, is the second most powerful sorcerer under certain circumstances, second only to Dr Strange--and was a character created by the great Stan Lee himself. RIP)
Not much to report--other than by this time next month I'll have my channel kicking off!
Hopefully that'll help peak interest in my novel, but I'm also doing it becasue it's just something I want to do for the fun of it.
Speaking of which, the short story is coming along great, nearly half way done with chapter 2, and it's only a 7 chapter story.

Doom is by far one of my favorite characters in Marvel.
Love his genius in combining magic and science. Plus, his level of ego in speaking in the third person is funny and awesome.

You took the words out of my mouth I was about to say that Dr. Doom is a beast. Most Marvel fans that I have spoken with, really underestimate Dr. Doom. This may be due to different adaptations of the character in various showcase again adaptations (comics, cartoons and movies). This is why I always say fantastic video, content and narration my brother New Sage, because your presentation of this character, even with me being already familiar with him, still made me watch it intensely because it was so good and fun to watch. Doctor Doom 's a Friggin' Awesome villain, together with Magneto and Graviton my three most fav earth-bound(I consider Thanos cosmic level lore) villains. All three are also insanely powerful. It's a shame however that Graviton doesn't enjoy half the attention the other two get for he sure's cool and powerful enough.

Dr. Doom came out the gate in comics as a brilliant brainiac on par with Reed Richard's. But the things Batman have accomplished in comics since he's been out I have to call bullshitt, because it doesn't fit his character. The writers have made him into something that he wasn't at the beginning when he first came out. Go back & read golden age batman comics & you will see that they have made batman into a something he wasn't at first. Go back and read silver age fantastic four & you will see that dr. Doom has always been special & true to the character he is today.

The only reason Doom doesn't rule the world is his obsession with Reed. They have different views of the world. Reed believes in human kind being basically good. Doom believes we human kind will destroy it self if he doesn't take over.

But I wasn't speaking of what they can do ,just history & notoriety. because both do what they do very well. & To be honest The Joker doesn't need Batman's plot armor, he has his own. Too many times he's fooled or had ppl way more powerful between a rock & a hard place. Both masterminds but Joker doesn't have any type of feelings or regards of other. Doom however, as power hungry as he is , he still has things he cares deeply about & to an extent has a moral compass... JaeMar Dillard : Latervaria looks like a quiet Bavarian village, but the covert security is extremely sophisticated, high tech & dangerous. It'd be a huge for-plot-sake-assumption that Joker could martial sufficient means to circumvent that security enough to pose a significant threat beyond anything Latavaria normally deals with. Theoretically if, for some contrived reason, there were a Latervarian embassy or diplomatic function in Gotham, where security's often a joke; the Joker could orchestrate sufficient disturbance (especially if manipulating the involvement of other power players) to get Doom's attention. But he'd probably just dispatch a doombot (like he did with Arcade and the X-Men) to deal with it. One guy's grand scheme, the other's minor involvement.

Doom is the best out of marvel when it comes devising plans.. but it's not too far fetched far joker to do something that Doom wasn't ready for. He manipulates those around him and others , so he doesn't even need to be in the midst of the conflict. I don't think you give the joker enough credit for the things hes been capable.
JaeMar Dillard : Don't get me wrong, I acknowledge The Joker's great villainy, one of his many fortes being his wild unpredictability. He's one of the best and (rightly) most popular villains in comix, but like his love-hate obsession Batman, he can be a victim of that popularity. Some characters appeal is from how incredibly formidable they are in the "arena(s)" they were built for. But once they get massively popular some people, writers & readers alike, want them operating way beyond their "weight class". Something like that's only consistently possible by stacking the deck to disregard any illusion of credibility until it comprises their core concept. Yeah, it's comix, but even fantasy/SciFi, whatever should make some effort to offer at least some pretense of contextual credibility. When it's totally discarded it can hurt the genre, medium. BatMan, has Wayne Enterprises and good (if sometimes tense) relationships with paranormal allies/friends, explaining his resources at least. The Joker, who works best as a street level villain (arguably the best there is), has no real friends or multinational entity backing. I've seen few stories even touch on where his money comes from or where he condescended to be bothered with a mundane bank robbery, not in comix anyways. So where/how would he get the means to contend with Dr.Doom? Something like that could/should be the bases for a story/stories in itself before they're thrown together just for the hell of it. I read some of the early alliances between The Joker and Lex Luther: Despite not liking each other; and having very different approaches -or maybe because of that, they made an effective, believable pairing because, while both ingenious, they had different things to offer the other. Lex benefiting from the Joker's unorthodox, unpredictable schemes, and Joker from Luthor's resources/tech. Those stories made sense. Latter however, U.S. president Luther, wanting to distance himself from aspects of his past, refused to give Joker access to his chemical cache hidden in a warehouse Lex owned. The Joker stepped up with hired muscle, easily killed President Luthor's squad of secret service guards and kidnapped him. Secret service presidential bodyguards are highly trained special agents; and Lex knowing he had his own enemies, and being Luthor, would've taken his own steps to increase their effectiveness, outfitting them with Lexcorp tech if nothing else. But as I remember, Joker slaughtered them all with casual ease and not a single casualty for his side. I also remember thinking that anybody who could do that should just be able to get get the chemicals from the warehouse on their own, if they even needed them. The story lost any credibility to me at that point (only Luther taunting Joker with the revelation that "Batman will never love you back" saved it😂). Same thing, no even worse to have Joker just be able to circumvent Latervarian security with the power to cause serious damage, just because the story said so: result lame story. That's why I think a scenario of Doom in Gotham makes a bit more sense. Only if the Joker, or someone else like Loki did in "Acts Of Vengence"; orchestrated a reason for Dr.Doom (or more likely a Doombot) to enter his "arena" would they be on the same stage. Maybe the Joker'd be able to manipulate conflict, or the appearance of it, between Latervaria and the likes of Wayne Enterprises, S.T.A.R. Labs, Lexcorp or maybe even New Krypton; since directly attacking Dr.Doom on his own could be suicidal. Admittedly, that "small concern" never stopped The Joker in the past; but It'd be a major undertaking regardless of how he did it, and even The Joker should have a credible reason to engage Doom.
I still forget how well he’s trained in hand to hand combat. He reminds me so much of Ra's al Ghul.

@JJ Kingman Not without the infinity gauntlet bro (and even with it there is technically only so much Thanos can do directly to Doom; Doom's armor protects itself and Dr. Doom from reality warping effects, even though gauntlet > armor). Thanos is tough as hell, but he can't magic, especially like Dr. Doom does. Sorry, but Dr. Doom wins again.
@@workyoutube7798 Thanos can beat him without the gauntlet. Characters weaker then thanos have damaged the armor so thanos would be able to get past it. Thanos is also vastly physically superior and is very versatile and intelligent.

In Dark Avengers, THE Morgana (from king arthur/merlin legend) shows up to destroy Doom and Latveria. She does. They then just reappear themselves through a blend of magic and technology with a save-state, time warp fail-safe. They just pop back in, adjust their clocks, and go back to life as per. Thanos CANNOT really defeat Dr. Doom - not without the infinity gauntlet, which both have wielded on numerous occasions in the past, so it isn't exactly accurate to say it's "on Thanos's character sheet". It simply can't happen without writer fiat.
@@workyoutube7798 Yes he has been said to be knowledgeable of magic before. and that depends if doom starts the fight with magic anyways. he doesn't always do that and if he doesn't thanos could quickly defeat him. If dr doom starts the fight with magic then I agree dr doom can defeat thanos, but he doesn't always start the fight using that magic so its not completely out the window that thanos can defeat him.

Honestly, assuming they both aren't going at it 100% for any reason damages the argument almost as fundamentally as giving one of them an infinity gauntlet, or some other ridiculous handicap. Its Doom vs Thanos, not Doom with an arm tied behind his back vs Thanos. He can time travel without a infinity stone. Game set and match. Its not a fair comparison. They just aren't really in the same league. Doom has too much going for him. Advantage: Doom.
P.S. - i have argued for doom for years against 100s of nerds and geeks alike. Vader Can't fuck with Doom. Dr. Manhattan can't fuck with Doom. Super man, Batman, Goku - nobody. MAYBE the Spectre, as his powers are wildly undefined, or maybe the Living Tribunal, for the same reasons. And the One-Above-All and the One-Below-All, but they are essentially Marvel's embodiment of all good and evil, and are conceptual beyond concepts.

1. His ("better") motivation was terrible
A flawed motivation could work but his was just bad
2. Looking at him in each film you can clearly tell they didn't know what to do with him
3. I usually don't care about power level but thanos in the start was able to fight half of the remaining asgardians (including Loki, heimdall, and thor) and hulk and barley struggled but struggled (and almost lost) against half of the GotG, spidey, iron man, and dr strange (who is the only one that somewhat makes sense to struggled against) despite having 4 infinity stones but in endgame barley struggled against captain America (and broke his shield like nothing and later he got mjölnir) ironman (with a better armor than the other armor that he held his own and made him bleed with) and thor who had him "beat" (I'm counting the end of infinity war) twice before with storm breaker which thanos nearly kills him with and did this with no stones but later on his nearly gets killed by scarlett witch (who was no where near that powerful in any movie)
@@skeletoncrew6500 1. Subjective. I would argue that his motivation from the MCU, flawed as it is, is still better than trying to shagg a skeleton. He comes across as a character with depth in the MCU, something the comics often failed to deliver. Although it depends largely on the writer, his motivation and character especially past Secret War was rather bland.
2. That is a rather vague statement. I think they knew rather well what to do with him, otherwise he would not have gotten the most screen time in IW.
