  • Taking the Portsmouth- St Malo ferry to France with my Series 3 Land Rover, meeting up with family for a week's holiday. We stayed near the town of St Guen in Brittany, spending much time swimming and kayaking the nearby Lac de Guerledan. We visited an evening market in Mur de Bretagne, complete with abseiling and found a quirky little electrical museum, among other things.

      Yes, fortunately! She goes particularly well in hot weather and generally it's a fun summer vehicle. Evidently they don't see them in France, the locals were quite enthusiastic about it wherever I went.

    Reminds me of when I took my old ex army 109" back to our place near La Rochelle. A year later I came back in it for an MOT and decided to sell it. Bad move! 😢

    Funny that you ended up behind a new Defender on the ferry

      Yeah! It did amuse me that the driver saw fit to test his engine some time before we had to disembark.. several Range Rover drivers did the same thing..

      I noticed that. I guess you could say the new Defender was in front of its Grandfather.

    I can see that you definitely need overdrive on highway trips.

    Nice trip looks like it☺️ what is the average speed you drive on the motor way?

    • @steamwally
      @steamwally  Год назад +2

      It certainly was, a week just wasn't enough. I cruised along at a steady 60mph on the faster roads. On more minor roads, the speed limits are quite low and very much suited to Land Rovers. I didn't actually travel on any motorways, all "N" and "D" roads, the motorways have a 130kph speed limit.
