Glad you made this video! Have to do a exhaust manifold gasket on my friends Genesis 2.0T because the shop that replaced that turbo never replaced the gaskets.
If you change your oil and filter when your supposed to your turbo will last for a long time. I have a 2012 sonata with 130 thousand on it and the turbo is running fine , just keep the oil clean
Joel....2 words....bungy cords. I always stretch and tie those hoses and harnesses out of the way. Just a suggestion. I hate fighting/ wrestling with that crap too! Cool video!
What did you use to remove the manifold bolts? Those things can crack , and that is the one thing holding back to replace the turbo. Did you just use heat or any fluid ?
Did you have to drain the oil or coolant before taking the lines off the turbo? Or not a lot of fluids leaked out? Just asking, because I’m just swapping the turbo out, but not planning on removing the whole manifold like yourself. Thanks!
Probably not since the ecu does not know a new turbo has been installed. You would only need to modify the ecu if you are installing a modified turbo to increase hp over stock specifications.
Just curious how many hours do you flag replacing the turbo? I work at vw and we replace a lot of turbochargers. On a vw gti or Tiguan we flag about 4.5 hours . How long did it take you to replace it?
@@javilink7 sorry, no video. The CHRA is the piece that connects your turbine and compressor. If you have a turbo, you already have a CHRA. CHRA stands for central housing rotation assembly...
A your a Hyundai guy 2013 Elantra rare squeaks coming from the right side and no it’s not the belt any thoughts before I dismantle the whole right side.?
This car looks abused. It is also missing the front strut bar. The front frame will be flexing with crappy handling/ traction when cornering. Maybe that why it already crashed 🤔
@Gunzork 2013\2014 U.S base model comes with it. It is also listed on the sales window sticker and was on the website back in 2013. My base model came with it brand new from the factory. Maybe this is a Canadian model.
Typical Hyundai quality lol, I've had and seen many LF Sonata Turbos, where the wastegate rod breaks off from the turbo, as result we had to replace the turbo under warranty.
Working in a dealership myself it’s great to watch someone else doing the work 😂😂. Great video dude 👍🏼👍🏼

Good video...wish to see more of the assembly being done on the new part and the torque specs shown.. great video tho
The torque specs are 3 ugga uggas per bolt
@@jasonlyle3818 Thanks for the very useful input...

“Alright gotta stop filming need a different angle” *cuts to turbo out of car*
Still snowing eh. 80 and sunny down here in Texas! Great video!
Just had a question on where you found your gaskets and the exhaust gaskets…

I'm doing one next week. Thanx a million bro! Excellent video.
You forgot your rag on the grill lol. Love videos like this btw and would like to see more of them
Good thing the turbo was replaced. Looked like a nice little job. To bad the passenger headlight is smashed
Nicely done bro. ☕️👍
How did you have access to the bolts to remove the bracket that sits underneath the turbo?
Nice, good job. Best part I thought-" oh this wont be too bad to get out now" Lol, I say that all day long
How did you diagnose the problem and that it needs a turbo?
I just found out this week that my area is going to be the first release area for snap on new brushless impact and new batteries

Nice. Is there any info on this anywhere?
@@Gregg0112 I got an update a week or so ago that it has been delayed
Hey just a lil tip that I found works well, is the hoist and raise the vehicle up a bit. Less bending over.
Absolutely. Specially for us tall guys
Can u hook up a manual boost adjuster or it hasto be an electronic one?
no mention that you primed the turbo before starting?

Can you let me know the total time to do the R&R of the turbo and did you use an OEM or aftermarket turbo. GREAT INFO, THANKS Tony
great video Joel as always brother
I can almost smell the black ice air freshener from here
what kind of turbo is it ? oem?
Great video! What brand turbo is that and where can I buy it? And do you need to replace intercooler too after turbo failure? Thanks!
What did you use to remove the manifold bolts? Those things can crack , and that is the one thing holding back to replace the turbo. Did you just use heat or any fluid ?
nais yo see some tools in action!!
Where can I get a brand new turbo charger?
Did you replace the stock turbo with a stuffed turbo, another stock one or a bigger turbo
How are you liking the transition from Toyota to Hyundai?
More repair vids like this or engine swaps 👌🏽

Do you have the long neck 1/4 electric ratchet yet? Use mine all time barely use the regular ones anymore.
Why not use a air tools on heavy duty stuff like this?
Will you have to tune the ecu even doe its an oem turbo?
Probably not since the ecu does not know a new turbo has been installed. You would only need to modify the ecu if you are installing a modified turbo to increase hp over stock specifications.
Great video
What kind of gloves do you wear? I haven’t found any that I really like
Where did u buy the turbo?
hes was still under warranty!! lucky or was he over 100m/k cause im about to lose mine haha good video i need torq specs and more detail

Hey joel, are you using the orange permatex brake goo now too..?
No it’s green. Haven’t seen orange yet.
How many km's on it, you do a fair bit of the turbos?
Another great job!!!!
Nice R headlight

Awesome content! More Hyundai diagnosis and repair vids please!
So with all the metal shaving do u have to replace the cat to ?
He cleaned it out.
That's the cutest little baby turbo ever
What's the labor time on this ?
around how much would this cost ?
Good job 😎
What was the cause?
How much does this cost to get done think my turbo craked on a 2011
Did this video go viral somewhere? 3x as many views as snap on Wednesday and it only uploaded around 11pm westcoast. weird!
Its probably because alot of guys want to put a higher turbo on there car and or have problems with there's and want to see how its done
Just a quick question and if this applies to the Hyundai? (5862) Why did this new part only last one day? - RUclips
What turbo did you buy to replace it
NoHandles oem

It takes me an hour. This turbo has a v-band so you can just take off the compressor portion and work on that and CHRA.

What's that white stuff all over the car? Whipped cream?
heroin
What was that price
Sure hope you replaced the air filer? Seen it way too many times after a turbo fails, pieces of metal go everywhere.
How much did it cost them to do this?
Warranty. So it didn’t cost them anything
