    The RX Audio Editor also comes with the RX Standard version, no need to go advanced ☺️

    What I do when I have a ton of vocals stacked is to align the main takes manually. Then put a gate on the other vocals with the sidechain listening to the main vocal.

    100% on auto align, RX and Vocalign. Haven't tried trigger, but those 3 are pure gold. Shot on ya

    Autoalign is an absolute game changer.. you can totally choose what your alignment source is in version 2.. and make groups on top of that

    Vocal Align is really useful, the first time I use it was for one EP with not that much take for each track, but it was already worth the investement with the time it save me :)

      So glad I just upgraded to 14. I have RX 11, too, nothing I can't fix between the 2.

      Yeah with the addition of spectral layers (which you get with cubase pro for free), cubase has the ability to do almost everything these plugs in this list offer including spectral editing.
      The only thing is with some, unless you have a bunch of macros etc. set up within cubase, then for like the drum triggers and the auto align etc. it can be quite a few clicks with a bunch of set up (making the plugs easier to use initially). However, given the inital set up, and having made the process all automated using cubases ability to string actions together in preset process strings, you could save a bunch of money if you have cubase by not needing much extra and still be able to do all you need.

    VocAlign is great, but it's not a mixing tool. It's an editing/production tool.

    • @marjinal0617
      @marjinal0617 2 дня назад +1

      yeah but sometimes people send a bad production, and we are the one to edit

    • @phadrus

      Some editing is part of the overall mixing process but it precedes the static mix and mixing process.

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  День назад +2

      Possibly, but if you can move the needle in any direction on what you get sent for mixing in a positive direction, that's a good thing!

      Producers be mixing and writing a bit, mixers be producing and “mastering” a bit, masterers be “mixing” a bit.
      The distinction is necessary but the map is not the territory

  • @bbl7813

    Totally agree with the RX and a Melodyne clone. Instead of auto align having a multiband correlation meter and sample delay gives you the opportunity to "EQ" multi mic takes just by alignment. Also having automatic sample plugin on for example a kick drum makes every single hit sound different due the real instrument having different waveform compared to the sample. Also I'm not a mixing engineer so I hope you allow my opinion :D

    good list, id trade slate trigger for apulsoft aptrigga3.. but otherwise, bang on.. oh and auto align 2, i like to use the nudge feature to tighten things up, i use kick in as guide

    • @bd9158
      @bd9158 День назад +1

      If you're talking about phase rotation, he did a video on this a while ago. I can't remember what it was called but it should come up if you search it. It can sometimes be useful on individual multitracks, but I think the general consensus on mixes or masters was no

    HOW important is the phase of the whole song in mastering ? Must one correct every single Track ? most are out of Phase and RX 11 has that Phase correction tool .

    • @alex-esc
      @alex-esc День назад

      Nick has a video on this topic. That phase tool if pushed a ton can add pre ringing. I'd stay away from it unless a track is completely out of wack ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    I agree on everything except Auto-Align, from my experience it does a pretty poor job compared to manual phase alignment. I even run a test aligning with Melda aligning tool (I forgot the name), Auto-Align 1 and 2 and my manual alignment and it was night and day difference between manual alignment and those automatic tools. Like 70-75% difference, really huge (better transients, more depth, more resolution, better sustain in the lows and subs on toms and kick especially, clearer sound with a better articulation)

    • @panorama_mastering
      @panorama_mastering  День назад

      Interesting, I'm wondering is there any way to create an "impulse" pre-recording to align mics?

    • @huberttorzewski
      @huberttorzewski День назад

      @panorama_mastering I think the easiest way is to record each drum hit separately, adjust the polarity afterwards so everything is going in the same direction (waveform) and then adjust the volume for example of L overhead to Snare Top so the snare hits are exactly the same and move the overhead track in time before the snare (usually around -3ms to -5ms is the sweet spot). When they're cancelling each out the most after hitting polarity/phase button it means you're almost 100% in phase now after flipping the polarity. You need to do it for each close drum mic separately. The trickiest are kick drum mics with each other - sometimes kick out needs to be around 4ms before or after kick in and in reversed polarity to sound correctly and in phase. It's not intuitive sometimes but for everything else than a kick drum it's pretty simple usually, everything should be moved around +/- 0.25ms to 5ms (I use Studio One's channel delay option for that)
