ABOUT THIS VIDEO
I had the privilege to meet pro audio instrument designer Ruben Tilgner (also Elysia CEO) at NAMM 2024. I've been a huge fan of the transient design tools he's created at SPL and at now Elysia. Everything he makes competes for the top spot in its class because they look, feel and sound great! We'll examine a few of his favorite recent creations. I'm looking forward to trying out the Qubes when recording synthesizers and treating each Qube as a discrete tone shaping synthesizer module. In this video Ruben gives us a detailed tour of how the Qubes work and how his design theory aligns with creative workflows in music. We'll also learn a little bit about his background (which reveals why Ruben is such an inspired creative genius, designer, inventor and musician.

ABOUT ANTHONY
Anthony's musical touch as both composer and performer is connected with some of the most influential creative minds over the last 40 years. He’s composed and conducted original orchestral scores for over 80 feature films including Young Guns , Internal Affairs , The Man From Elysian Fields , 15 Minutes and Planes, Trains & Automobiles , been commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic for his symphonic work "In the Family Way", written over one thousand TV commercials in a myriad of musical styles, co-founded Levels Audio Post (LA's premiere post production facility) and performed and arranged on big-box-office films and influential hit records such as Michael Jackson's Thriller .
His extensive work as a young arranger, orchestrator and performer for Quincy Jones , Jack Nitzsche , Lamont Dozier , Arthur Rubenstein and Giorgio Moroder was vital in launching his own career. His early years pioneering modular analog synthesizers along with his wide-ranging music scholarship positioned Anthony at the center of the music technology revolution. He attended the University of Southern California School of Music as a piano and composition major.

Hi Anthony, please do some videos where we can hear synth processing examples. This Elysia stuff, I also recommend Radial DI's which also sound exceptional. The Moog drive. The SSL drive. Rupert Neve Tape drive. The world needs to hear this.

I love their stuff. At first i felt like i belong. Then he started describing and at 3:50 „dynamics section“ for the eq (on an analog device ….) so a voice inside
of my head started getting louder like Wake uuuuuppp. Wake uppp…. It will be 5000 euros … Wake up… .-)
Honestly ... I tried the Xpressor with my synths and sold it after a couple of months. A pair of Cranborne Carnaby does a much better job for my EQ.

Elysia makes really great gear and the plugins sound good too. I think their plugins are put together by Brainworx.

Take all those 1/4” IO to a simple patch bay in a front rack to easily patch override rear xlr default serial arrangement?
Exactly. I have a DBX TRS patch bay in my synth rack for on-the-fly signal enhancement or destruction. 😅
