      Can you use a combination of trains, buses, and ferries to hit the daily maximum? For example, can you go to Downtown Sydney by bus and train from Bondi Beach and then use the ferry to go to Manly Beach? Would you only pay the daily maximum cap? Also, would that also apply to the weekly cap? If I'm correct, then would the maximum for the week be $50 AUD? If you are there for two different weeks, then would the Maximum of all NSW travel be $100 AUD for the two weeks? Thanks for your assistance.
      We have the same question as this user. Do you know the answer? BTW, great informative video.

    I think you missed to mentioned the fact that with Opal all the connecting travels (train+bus for example) is counted as one travel, thus you do not pay each individual trips. And if tap your Opal within an hour, it's counted as 'transfer' - a discounted trip connecting previous trip.

    You accidentally used the old map that included the t6 train line at the beginning. The t6 line was disbanded since 2020, so to anyone whos new, there isnt a train line to carlingford, but theres a new light rail to carlingford from Parramatta comming very soon

    The boundaries of Sydney Transport are Huge.
    Goulburn to the south, Nowra on the south coast, Bathurst to the West, Newcastle, Maitland, Scone, Dungog in the north. Given the maximum fair, daily cap, weekly cap, half price 3 day weekends, it is dirt cheap.
    That is 460km north to south and over 100km to the west!
    Maximum of $11.80 one way during week. Max $17.80 per day. Max $8.90 Fri, Sat, Sun.
    Bargain!

      just use your contactless debit/credit card instead of getting an opal.

      @@gypsysteve3576 you will need to buy an opal card if you can't pay using a credit or debit card, as our public transport system have completely phased out individual paper tickets and cash payments many years ago. All our public transport only use the opal system now, so either buy an opal card or you'd need to pay using your credit or debit card.

      @@gypsysteve3576sorry this is late, but you can buy an opal card with cash (there’s usually one in each station). And then if you have a phone you can go on transport NSW and see how much a total trip would be. If you travel on a Sunday it’s really cheap. Every other day gets expensive but there’s a cap. I’d put like $20 cash on at first and then take note of how much you left and how much your trip would be.

    Am I required to tap on and off inside the Train? Or tapping on and off when entering the train station is enough? This may sound trivial but I am using it soon and I’ve never been there before. Thank you, and very helpful video!

    • @JoshGoesSlow
      @JoshGoesSlow  9 месяцев назад

      No need to tap on and off on the train, just as you enter and exit the station gates. If there’s no gates there will be a tap point at the entrance.

    As someone from Melbourne used to the Myki system, I keep wondering a few things about the ability to use contact less (visa/mastercard) to pay for travel. Eg how do they catch fare evaders & how do find out information about your journey. I suppose you can check how much you paid by checking your bank, but what about the other information?

    • @robman2095

      Same way as your opal card I guess - they probably scan your card and it checks your last transaction(s) with opal. Not sure though. I doubt they do it very much
