I wish there was more lore on the somnium, we don't even know what happened to it after HH. And its literaly the biggest ship after phalanx that the imperium has/had. It would be cool if it was hidden away by the order of the emperor and only his custodies have the power to use it. To if it came to save the day it would be an asspull so more like - imperium is in a dire situation, valdor comes back from his self exile and orders the somnium to be reawakened and fight its last battle. - it could either be lost or better yet, since its the emperors own flagship, it could be lost in the warp, but due to big e influence, noone could claim it and there would be a plotline later for a returned primarch to reclaim it from the warp. I dunno I just want somnium lore.
In the HH book Mortis we do actually get to learn the fate of the Somnium, believe it or not, the ship in this video doesn't do it justice in regards to raw firepower
The Imperator Somnium was the flagship of the God Emperor himself. This thing was strong; and if it was still around in the 41st-42nd millennium, ships like Planet Killer and Vengeful Spirit wouldn't stand a chance against it. This was a ship powered by the best the mechanicus had to offer and the most powerful of the dark age technologies. If it was Imperator Somnium instead of Vengeful Spirit in the opening scene of BFG2 where silver dawn attacks Vengeful Spirit; the Silver Dawn Fleet would cease to exist. Unfortunately any ships like Imperator Somnium are lost to imperial records or destroyed. If any at all remain; they are either debris and wreckage, lost in the warp or don't actually exist. It would be cool if more existed but the ship is a one of a kind; and as said any that are like it would be lost to record.
"If it was Imperator Somnium instead of Vengeful Spirit in the opening scene of BFG2 where silver dawn attacks Vengeful Spirit; the Silver Dawn Fleet would cease to exist." Yep [TLDR: The Imperator Somnium has a cluster of nova cannons. Firing 10 shots in the span of a heartbeat. From other passages from the book, its got cloaking tech so advanced that the entire fleet assaulting Terra did not notice it floating alongside them for a good long time, not until it started opening fire. ---- Almost none of the watchful ships saw the Imperator Somnium until it was well within their sensor and gun ranges. It was vast, a palace shaped in gold and set free in the stars. A thing of such size should not have been able to burn so deep into the spheres of Terra unseen. But it had. It had been born above that world. The last ores of its continents and the metal of its conquered cities laid down as its bones and woven into its skin. Within its hull, technologies that existed nowhere else had shrouded its approach, scattering its mass and engine returns into the background radiation of space. Now, though, it could not hide. Now it needed to be what it was. … Now the killers were moving fast, the leisure and confidence gone as they burned to keep their guns on the plunging ship. The greater vessels of that swarm above Terra began to move. A quatro of World Eaters heavy cruisers accelerated at it, prow to prow. The Imperator Somnium fired then. It did not have the human crew or manpower to run an exchange of fire, but it had claws and teeth, claws that had pulled down star-kingdoms and teeth that had ended empires. Nova shells loosed from clusters of barrels set along its keel. Each shell was the size of a Battle Titan, loaded with time-delayed fusion reactors, volkite storm accelerators and rad-fusion warheads. Accelerated by mag-coils to the edge of light speed, each shell was a squadron killer. A ship of the line could only mount one such weapon and fire it with ponderous irregularity. The Imperator Somnium fired ten shells within the span of a human heartbeat. The World Eaters cruisers vanished. Shoals of frigates became fire, became dust. The great Emperor’s Children barge Serpentis burned and then detonated. Transports still rising from Terra became flashes in the spreading blast storm. The Imperator Somnium loosed torpedoes. There were no crews to sight its guns, but the torpedoes could find their own targets. Dozens of warheads cut through the dark, curving towards the scent of reactors and engines. Some were so close that the ships did not have time to evade. New explosions lit the dark. Blisters of fire blew outwards from hulls. The recoil from the nova cannon had sliced speed from the Imperator Somnium, but its engines pushed it on, plunged it down and down through the orbital spheres.]

I would have executed an admiral that lead this fleet for incompetence, with such a firepower to suffer this immense loss of ships is intolerable. Great video tho

A space battle should be a micro-intensive slog of hit and runs, rapid turns, bow chases and torpedo suppositories. It should also end with minimum loses. The Navy cannot afford to lose so many battlecruisers with a mere orc fleet. They'll need to survive and fight on and on for the next 10 thousand years.
Love it when the escort ship doesn't die a horrible and painful death, excellent video as always
Thanks!

It got destroyed in the siege of Terra.

the imperator somnium fell buying time for the DA during the siege of terra, but the one described in the books was too OP for a fair representation
It died during siege of Terra ;( Shielded few thousand dark angels so they can assault astronomican and re lit it.
I don't know exactly what video game or channel I've come across, but I like it. This looks intense.
Wow, that Imperial flagship was huge big than other ship.
That’s cause it’s meant to be the Imperator Somnium, the Emperor’s personal flagship, if you look closely it’s full gold, like the Emperors armour
Flagship of the Fleet of Humanity, cool !
Ah. An imperial Dreadnought.
Wall of guns is very imperial guard like. Nice video mate

try addding elements into pioneer space simulation
Nice Battle! Maybe I'll give this another try.
Thanks
This is the God-Emperor's personal flagship.
Is this how the Imperator Somnium actually looks like?
Not exactly, it is fan art.
I’d love to own that Battle Ship as a model.
battleship my arse, heresy to call it that, maybe a dreadnaught.... but not a simple battleship....
A beast of a brawl
Is the design accurate thought it was gold colored

Probably yes, but I don't play campaigns, so cannot check it.

Emperor class Battleships are not made for hit and runs or rapid turns. They are blunt slabs of armor with immense firepower.
