  • I am moving to Lapland, Finland for Christmas! I will be working here for the next 6 weeks! Come along with me on this travel day and settle into my new apartment with me! I will be doing an apartment tour and trying to find where everything is in my new accommodation (I actually thought the toilet was outside!😅). I can’t wait for you all to come along on this journey with me!

    It's probably clear to you now, but there obviously was a dishwasher previously installed in the empty opening of the bottom cabinetry between the stove/oven and the sink. The water leak was from the water inlet of the dishwasher, and the inlet was not properly closed when the dishwasher was removed.

      @ChelseaAddams  Год назад +3

      Ahh yes, the man who came to fix it explained that to me! I just hadn’t seen a tap like that so didn’t know not to twist the side 🤣🤣

    • @-tsvk-
      @-tsvk- Год назад +2

      @@ChelseaAddams Yes, there is usually a tap valve to twist, that controls the water flow to the dishwasher, but my point was that the end of the pipe that was open under the sink should have been properly closed off with a cap or plug that prevents the water from flooding the cabinet even if someone mistakenly opens the dishwasher tap valve when no dishwasher is connected.

    As a Finn I have to apologize for the weird apartment welcoming, looks like these folks are new to this sort of business or something? I wish that you have had better experiences with the new work and everything else. We want to see those eyes laughing just like before that nasty flight! Good luck and God Bless!

    Heey! I’m going to work the same job in a week, thanks to you! I got few short questions:
    Did they provide towels at the accommodation?
    Do you think I should bring any washing powder?
    Are the shower gels/ shampoos expensive (about how much)?

    • @ChelseaAddams
      @ChelseaAddams  10 месяцев назад

      Hey! That’s amazing, I hope you have the best time!!!
      Yes they provided towels and bedding for us and about the washing powder, we didn’t have a washing machine in our building so we could use the ones at work and they provided washing powder but I think if there’s washing machines in your building then I’m pretty sure you have to provide your own but I’m not 100% sure!
      And I think I took my own shower gel and shampoo so I’m not too sure!

    I guess you probably already heard from someone else that you can buy Prepaid SIM card with unlimited mobile data for about 20 euros from local stores like from K-market or K-Supermarket or R-Kioski? If your phone has 2nd SIM slot you can put that kind of Prepaid SIM into that slot and then use data with that SIM card. No need for wifi then.

    • @ChelseaAddams

      Ahh yes that is what I have done! I think I had mentioned it when filming this video but I talk A LOT so had to cut a lot of things out hahah thank you though!!🥰

  • @nellitheretrogamer8666
    @nellitheretrogamer8666 Год назад +1

    The cutting board is for cutting bread. Since there are two of them, one of them is probably meant for baking; you can pull it out, and the end with the handle comes off, and you can put it on the dinner table and use it as a surface for baking.
    The switches for turning the refrigerator on should be in there somewhere, but without seeing the inside, it is difficult to say where. In my experience, they are usually at the top of the refrigerator. They may be hidden behind a little hatch or something.
    The apartment doesn't look very nice because it doesn't have curtains or rugs or anything; whoever supplied it apparently decided to provide only the bare necessities. That's not very nice of them.

    • @ChelseaAddams
      @ChelseaAddams  Год назад

      Ohh okay that makes sense with the chopping boards! We actually got provided with another one after I filmed this video so I actually just leave those two alone 😅
      Ahh yes, a man came to turn it on the next day and they were in the cupboard above!
      Ahh there are blinds at least and a rug in the hall, I don’t need a lot, just the necessities are fine for me so I’m happy here ☺️

      LOL, it's currently on market for €105k. Thanks Chelsea for a thorough presentation.😀Really needs a full renovation though. Think I'll skip.🤔

    • @ChelseaAddams
      @ChelseaAddams  Год назад +1

      Ahh honestly, other than a couple of little issues when I moved in, that are now fixed, I think it’s pretty decent! I’ve definitely stayed in a lot worse and in some bad hostels too so I don’t have very high standards with accommodation I guess haha, but it provides everything we need ☺️

    • @TheAlex29494
      @TheAlex29494 Год назад +3

      it's just old and not renovated. probably because they use it for short term accommodation only
      it looks like it's still in its original shape from the 80's or 90's

    Just started following you after watching an older unpacking video of yours💃🏻 I’m Finnish and those cutting boards are pretty normal in old flats. I have one in mine too but I never use it because they are pretty disgusting because as you noticed they are a bit hard to clean:D also I definitely recommend Lidl and S-market for cheaper grocery prices, look for the budget brands (Rainbow in S-markets) Hope you enjoy your time in Finland:)

    • @Jantzku

    What an absolutely shoddy accommodation to put workers in. Makes my blood boil and be ashamed to be fin. I hope your experiences otherwise will be better. Shame on the company that don't care to take holistic view on workers well being.

    • @ChelseaAddams
      @ChelseaAddams  Год назад +2

      Ahh it’s a lot better now, things have been fixed and I’m enjoying the work! Honestly I’m happy with the apartment now, it provides everything I need to live and be comfortable, I’ve definitely stayed in a lot worse than this, this feels like luxury in comparison!! 😅

    • @kukaliemikalie8157

      I'd say it depends on the value of the job.
      Berry pickers and Nokia executives rarely get the same accommodation.
      That's a normal finnish apartment, better actually than mine, it has a sauna.
