Hi Jesse thanks for sharing this, very inspiring. I just started out in this field 6 months ago and so far i only have two contracts with two good music libraries. I know I got a long way to go to reach the potential of full income! Im wiling to put in the work tho
This is a 4 year old comment, but I am literally in your position at the moment. I was wondering how you have been doing in these last 4 years? Did you reach your goals?
Hey, Jess... thanks for continuing to leave me on your email list, after telling you I was not ready to go full steam with your program as of yet. My day Jobs right now just sucks the life out of me but this is keeping me motivated for the future when I leave AT&t
I know Im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my account password. I love any help you can give me.
@Adrian Leandro i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site on google and Im waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Sync My Music I completely agree :/ I have a bunch of placements through BMI, but no record of which shows they have landed on! I used to be with ASCAP and really enjoyed having this full breakdown list!
I been so discouraged because I write only and i buy mostly my beats and I keep thinking no library would not want any vocals or records just the beats I have from my producer
Hey Jesse, thanks for sharing and being so candid about your work. Quick question: I'm assuming Boxaboom is your DBA publisher name, but who is that "Songs of Current" under Andministrator? Are they your publishing admin, Like SongTrust? To collect your worldwide royalties? Thanks again!
No those are actually publishers that have distributed my tracks throughout the years. I have my own publishing companies that have different DBA names.
@5:59 did you say 'we ended up getting some other cues, I think some other stings'? Do they just use your stings sometimes? & does that count as a placement? Or did I hear that wrong
Hey man, recently discovered your channel and your vids are really helpful. I was wondering your view on whether it is best to start and finish a track before starting a new one, or to get a few ideas down and then work on finishing them after? I am putting a portfolio together to send to some libraries and wasn't sure on the most productive way to get through a lot of tracks. Let me know if you can, thanks!
You have to do what works best for YOUR creative process, but I find that not finishing tracks is a really bad habit to get into. Not finishing tracks can create long-term fatigue - at least for me it does. I have a rule - if I start a track, I finish it (even if I don't love it!).
Hi Jesse, I thought you were with BMI? I think I saw a reference to BMI on this ASCAP page but that makes me confused: is this ASCAP page available even if you're with BMI? Thanks for all your great videos.
I am with BMI, but I started out with ASCAP many years ago. Unfortunately BMI doesn't have a cue sheet feature like this in their system so I have to use my old ASCAP account to show you guys my placements.
I know you was saying the best way to get your music place is to make music similar to what they already have out I get the hundred percent my slight issue is when I hear a song or instrumental on a movie or TV show honestly I really don't know where to go to find that song so that way I can send it to my team to produce something similar to it is there any sites that shows the name of the song and where it got placed on the movie TV and film if you know any let me know hope to hear back from you soon
I don't get IMDB credits - most production music doesn't. That's a different system that normally only will count theme songs, etc. For background music (most of my placements) there isn't much fanfare.
Hello! This was a very helpful video. I recently subscribed to your channel and I am very glad I found it. I actually recently released an album and submitted the songs to quite a few music libraries already. I do have one question: if I submit songs to a music library and they do happen to get placements in TV shows or whatever else, would I still be able to release those songs in a future album? Or would it depend on the agreement?
It would depend on the agreement. Sometimes you can take tracks out after a certain period of time, but make sure you're clear on that before you sign your tracks over to a Library.
So how do I actually get my music into the libraries? I have written 135 cues since March, and every lead is a dead end, I have forwards from Taxi but not sure how successful those will be How did YOU get your music into the libraries/placed? As the title of the video says
I submitted them directly to music libraries with targeted, researched campaigns. You can watch the free 5 day course (link in description) to learn more.
You should enroll in the free course to understand how to get started. You need to first understand how the overall industry is structured and what each entity does. www.syncmymusic.com/freecourse

Thank you! Def needed this content 🤘🏽Ima cry tears of ultimate fulfillment when I get my first sync license 💪🏽

This channel is gonna change the game
That's the plan Dustin!

@Adrian Leandro It did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thanks so much you saved my ass!
@Chad Levi happy to help =)
Good stuff my man! Your videos are so cool and informative! Much love
Thank you sir!
I like how ASCAP has everything organized online. Why doesn't BMI show things this way?
Good question - I'm sure they'll incorporate this feature soon.
ditto - that looks so nice and organized. I hope BMI does this soon

Hey Jessie,.. because you have such a high volume of tracks going out,.. do you do your own mastering ?

sound kanvas
Okay great never thought of that
I couldn't find any of Bad Girls Club, Dateline, Black Ink Crew, placements in the show credits on IMDB

This sounds great I'm interested in this but how do I get started, where do I submit?
Thanks JMZ! Took the words out of my mouth:-)

Very good

What are your mixing and mastering cost with so many songs you do every week?
0$ (I mix and master all my own tracks) and these days I'm at 2-3 tracks per week on average.
if i start an ascap membership , do i get to upload all of my music into one giant music library ?
You should enroll in the free course to understand how to get started. You need to first understand how the overall industry is structured and what each entity does. www.syncmymusic.com/freecourse
Hey many total cues do you think you have signed?
1000+. Hard to get an exact number, but I average 2-3 tracks a week and I've been doing this for about 9 years now.
Wait! At the 1:16 part, I hope that was part of a prayer, cuz I don’t like my Lord’s name used in vain.
no info. just showing off where you got placed. waste of my time.

Its depressing to think that after 268 placements you became a youtuber
How so? RUclips is great! (And not 268 placements - it was 268 TV shows - my placements are in the tens of thousands).
@@SyncMyMusic now im even more depressed ... tens of thousands of placements ? ... and you arent rich ? Suddenly i feel like im wasting my time
