Thank you for the video. I found an Earlier English's kit of the same tooling this morning hiding at the back of a NYC hobby shop with no documentation and this will be a big help.
I probably bought the replacement motor at least 30 years ago (source unknown). The brand was "Helix Humper". I"m pretty sure they are long out of business. I am now thinking about putting in a Northwest Short Line gearbox and a new can motor. A future video, perhaps???
Thank for another great video! Very informative. I really appreciate the quartering and gear puller as I have always wondered why NWSL never produced one.
Well, it never occurred to me to try to fix the gear, especially once I found out that "new" ones were available. But I have my doubts whether that would be an effective fix. That plastic is slippery, and the crack into which the epoxy would need to go was very small. I think there must be a lot of internal stress in the gear due to the slight interference fit between it and the axle (what caused the crack in the first place).
@@CarlBrainerd Your probably right. Your videos have inspired me to rebuild and super detail a bowser 2-10-0. Also install dcc/sound which is also new to me!

Very Smooth!! What a great video series, congratulations on your victory!!
I love it Carl. It's going to be a great little project.
Very nice kit, your doing a nice job. Thanks for sharing this build, it's interesting to say the least. I like these old kits.
This is a really nice video. Where did you get the motor?

@@CarlBrainerd I would be interested to watch. I have a kitbashed GN P2 from a Bowser USRA class that I am looking to remotor.

Do you think epoxy would have worked on the gear?
