- Several stunning cars emerged from the design studios of motor manufacturers in the 1950s. Among these was the Mercedes-Benz 190SL. For many years this model lived in the shadow of its more illustrious sibling, the 300SL, or ‘Gullwing’ as it came to be known, and its roadster sibling. But a select few aficionados knew better.
The W121 190SL rates as one of the most beautiful cars of the era, no small feat considering that competition included the Jaguar E-Type, BMW 507 and first-generation Corvette.
A young lady growing up in the Kwa-Zulu Natal region of South Africa, by the name of Manana Nhlanhla, adored the 190SL. For her this car epitomised gracefulness. It conjured up images of Princess Grace driving her own 190SL in Monaco, or some of the uber-cool Jazz cats of the day who owned them including one of Nhlanhla’s favourites, Miles Davis.
This is her story.

Yho! when I clicked on this video, I didn't expect a black guy, maybe a white old privileged man, but its a black woman, wow, I am so proud of her. she's got class, not the Brazilian hair class we are now accustomed to, I so wish she could mentor my daughter.

oooooo nothing like a classic merc in great nick.. sounds like timing and tappets need to be adjusted. she is sitting on a real asset there these things are just going up in price.
