The strawberries you get from the supermarket are specifically selected so that they do NOT have bugs in them; of course it wouldn't work. There is no trick to solving a Rubik’s Cube. They made it work by doing the “up down” thing to scramble it. That’s how I solved 3 cubes in under 10 seconds. I repeated 4 moves to scramble it, and used the same 4 moves to solve it.
