    The sand is so fine I am surprised it doesn't get blown away. Like walking on powdered sugar.

    Great but you missed the other side of the island where you could go snorkeling or jet skiing. It is a nice walk (exercise) and the dirt road will bring you back to the two-level cabanas area on the beach.

      Thanks for the tip, Jose! We had a day packed with fun and ran out of time to catch the other side. It's definitely on our list for the next time we visit!

      Do you have to show a drivers license in order to rent jet skis?? I didn't plan on bringing my drivers license on the cruise also my daughter is 16 but doesn't have a driver's license currently.

    Great video! What's the best way to make sure you have one of the clamshells reserved? They are not an option on the excursions that can prepurchased.

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  4 года назад

      If you don't have the option to purchase as an excursion, there's a rental place near the "entrance" on the island. During our trip, there were plenty of clam shells available.

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  2 года назад

      We were just there again a couple of weeks ago (update video coming in a few months) and we did not see any jet skis available to rent. The only jet skis available were part of a jet ski guided tour excursion that you can book through the cruise.

    Are there paved walkways behind the beach area to walk along when you're looking to find a lounge chair?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  5 лет назад +1

      Not really. What you see at 1:41 is pretty much what the entire beach area looks like: water then beach/sand then bushes/trees. There are walkways behind the bushes/trees that connect the general areas, but they won't be helpful when you're looking for a lounge chair. (sorry, wrong account :) )

    Dear Jelly Bean Family: I watch your videos over and over, especially the ones about Carnival's Caribbean ports of call. Do you have a preference between a cruise that includes Half Moon Cay and a cruise that includes Princess Cays? I am getting ready to book my first post-pandemic cruise and I'm deciding between these two. I have never been to a private island resort. Thanks for the info! All the best!

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  3 года назад +2

      Hi, Julianne! For us, the choice would be Half Moon Cay. The snorkeling and ability to get away from the crowds would be two big factors for us. To be clear, there's nothing wrong with Princess Cays -- except maybe the rocky waters/shoreline -- but Half Moon Cay was a fantastic port for us. Daddybean still has the photo of the "I Wish I Could Stay Here Forever" sign from 3:29 as one of his Zoom background options for work. Let us know if you have any other questions!

      @@TheJellyBeans Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!!! I am so grateful for your opinion!!! I was leaning that way anyway, but saw that the two different locations were just one week apart as I consider the date I'm booking. I'll be watching for your new videos as we finally get to cruising again!!! :)

    did you mention the lunch buffet was complementary?

    • @TheJellyBeans

      Yes, the "Island Barbecue" lunch is complimentary. Be aware that there are other places to eat, such as the Lobster Shack, that are *not* complimentary.

    Is this beach an excursion you have to book through the ship? Or is it one you walk to from the ship and pay for there?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  2 года назад +1

      It's actually neither. The beach is part of the island, so it's included as part of the port. If your ship is visiting Half Moon Cay, then you get to enjoy it! 😁

    Is it easy to get around if you have mobility issues? Since its a tender i guess you cant bring your scooter with you .Do they have scooters there to rent or wheelchairs?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  6 лет назад

      We don't recall seeing a scooter on the tender and/or island, but have read online where others have said they were able to do so. We did see beach wheelchairs (the ones with really big wheels) available near the Information Hut.

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  5 лет назад +3

      Carnival lists the age requirement as 16 years old. There's also a maximum weight of 250 pounds. Hope this helps!

    What is the current drinking age on Half Moon Cay?

    • @TheJellyBeans
      @TheJellyBeans  4 года назад

      The port is owned by Carnival and Carnival's drinking age is 21. Everything we've seen says this is the case, but Carnival does not have anything official available that we could find.

      Hi, Tiffany! Half Moon Cay is a private island, so it's basically as safe as being on your cruise ship. For the rest of the Bahamas, it really depends on the port/area. Check for travel advisories for any areas you're visiting or considering.

      Correct. That is how "Cay" is pronounced in many/most of the Caribbean islands.
