idk if you've ever tried to use a wire stripper to strip an entire length of wire (especially stranded like in this video) but it's really hard. this isnt the best alternative, not even the best easy or cheap alternative, but it is still better. wire strippers are best for stripping the insulation at the end to expose a little bit of wire for connecting it to something else. stripping the whole thing is done to increase the value of the wire at scrap metal recycling centers. "bare bright" (fully stripped) copper can goes for 20¢ more than the same wire with insulation at my local scrap yard (per pound).
