I totally agree with Mandy on wanting to MAYBE baptize CeCe when she’s older if that’s what CECE wants. Baptism is a personal choice not one your parents should make for you
Of course. The person has to be old enough to understand what is going on and to make their own choice. Most churches say the person has to be at least 12 years old, minimum. And sprinkling is not an actual baptism. Jesus was fully dunked in water, and that is how it is supposed to be done to us, too. Babies and sprinkling? Yeah..... doesn't count.
And even if you are baptized as a baby it's not like you are guaranteed to be a devout baptist, unlike what Mary and Pastor Jeff think. Pretty sure Mary got Georgie, Sheldon, and Missy baptized as babies and look how religious all of them turned out(you would think with that she would know that's not how it works).

For all those concerned by Sheldon's mention of Georgie's wives. Sheldon may have been making an observation, his type of observation, and his meaning isn't to be taken literally.
No, it means Young Sheldon keeps making retcons. Georgie and Mandy at some point got divorced.
Hopefully they retcon that and he and Mandy stay together
@@obliteratetg I disagree. Regardless of what you think of canon, it should be respected and not retcon. YS has retcon much of what Sheldon told us about his childhood including getting bullied because they did not want to deal with that.

Now, they could have still shown George cheating while adding more context, and there are rumors to be a spinoff of for Mandy and Georgie, so I guess we will see. I just hate Hollywood writers for being unwilling to stick to a storyline when they become unpopular.

Not really. He's not apologizing because he thinks he was wrong. He just blindly wants to take her side. It means he is in for a miserable marriage until it's over, and then he's in for another miserable marriage until it's over, and the cycle just continues.
I'd love him more if he stood by what he believed. And if he only apologized when he realized he was wrong, not to keep his wife happy.

I know it’s just a show and this was for comedy, but fyi, in real life, Priests don’t allow baptism without Parent’s consent (assuming it’s a baby or child) and it’s a long process, for they have to take some classes to prep for the baptism. But if they’re legal age or older to make a decision, then yeah, but they still have to go through classes before then.
In my country, parents don't do the classes to baptise the newborn, but if the kid is older (school age) and still not baptised yes then it has to take the class in church.
But "imminent baptism" in both Catholic and Protestant church can be done if the life is in danger. Like, if the baby/adult is dying. So they here went that way (Mary knows Pastor, and Mandy's mom bribed Priest)
@@AaAa-pf7tj But there’s no emergency of a life and death situation in this scenario. I don’t consider spiritual or soul saving an emergency. And both parents are still alive, so technically, imminent baptism doesn’t apply in this context.

I'm pretty sure because both baptisms were performed behind the back of the parents without consent, neither baptism is considered valid. In fact I think in both types of christianity, performing a baptism like this would be considered an unforgivable sin
While I have no notion about the Baptist, the Catholic one albeit being illecit (a sinful act in every circumstance with the exception of tje child being at risk of dyin) is valid. Should they go to bishop the priest would be in biiig trouble.
These sitcom baptisms are totally not legit.
In a real baptism, there is actual paperwork involved. This is where the duty of the godparents is actually something real. There is usually something called a baptismal certificate, signed by the parents and the godparents.
Mandy is overreacting, again. Georgie had the right perspective on it, but reigning in grandparents takes some doing. They raised the parents, after all, so of course they think they know best.

Im baptist. I love this show so much, but they really do us dirty. Some churches can be extremely messed up, but the movie makes us look stupid. And you are right.

That theory is wrong. She congratulations Sheldon on his Nobel Prize. I don't think that was a ghost who sent Sheldon that text message. These are not horror shows, there are no ghosts. They must have gotten divorced. How that happened will be answered in the upcoming spin-off if that lasts long enough.

Mandy was never mentioned in the Big Bang only technically during meeting Georgie episode can’t remember which one and one episode when we met Sheldon’s Mema were she said something along the lines his second wife and Georgie wanting her ring. But if it was said during young Sheldon I must have missed it.

The producers have gone to pains to say that the two series are not meant to match up perfectly - AND there is going to be a spin-off with George and Mandy - be I think the key is going to be how much younger he is, but physically and intellectually. He's got a great heart, but he's going to keep making life mistakes.
What Mandy's mom did was disrespectful.

This is a girl who get fired from her job, yet blamed her replacement instead of herself, even using a swear word to describe her replacement. This is a girl who lied about her age (yes, Georgie did it too and it was worse when he did it, but that doesn't mean it was good when she did it).
This is a girl who had unprotected sex out of wedlock (not knowing Georgie's true age doesn't excuse failure to use birth control). This is a girl who doesn't have insurance on her car.
This is a girl who got kicked out of her apartment because she couldn't pay rent, so she ended up stealing Sheldon's room.
This is a girl who can't keep her baby calm, she even got mad at Sheldon because she expected him to be okay with her baby crying and her stealing his room.
This is a girl who convinced Missy to ruin her hair.
This is a girl who was very slow to forgive Georgie and her mom, yes Georgie did something horrible and her mom was horrible to her, but they both admitted that and apologized and tried to make amends and she pushed them away for a while.
This is a girl who is supposed to be a grown woman, yet she seems to be less mature than Georgie who is a teenager and maybe even less mature than 14-year-old Sheldon.
And she's also admitted to doing a lot of horrible stuff when she was a child (bullying Connor, lying to her parents so she could go to parties, drinking at those parties when she was way underage, etc.)
She hasn't done much right. She was right to not buy alcohol for Missy's party at Billy's house, but then she ruined that moment when she said she'd be perfectly happy to buy alcohol for Georgie even after she knows he's underage.

Raised Catholic..baptized at 7 days old. My mother was Lutheran..Father Baptist. Anyone can have baby baptized Catholic. Also in case of emergency.anyone can baptize another being if they are dying if no priest available
Earth to Audrey, Georgie does not lose his hair. But he does lose 2 wives via divorce. And, one of whom is your daughter. But relax. Georgie buys your store, and you get to enjoy your retirement. And your daughter gets a lot of money in her divorce. Same with the 2nd wife.
The correct term in the Bible is loose, not lose. "If ye be married, seek not to be loosed from your spouse." Also, despite popular tales, many do go back to their ex after the next relationship doesn't work out... and this has NOT been ruled out as a scenario.

@@richarddecker9515Christianity and Islam aren't subsets if anything, those are its own religions. All three, and some smaller ones, are in the Abrahamic family of religions.
That's not how Baptism works in the Catholic Church. You don't just walk in. You have to take a class and you have to get permission from a parent or guardian, or it's invalid.
Have you seen the note he accepted from Mandy's mom ?
@@AaAa-pf7tj It doesn't matter. The baptism is illicit, probably invalid, and the priest doing so automatically causes his faculties to be suspended barring an investigation.
What is depicted here is in violation of the Church and any priest who would do this not only risks his own soul but that of the child. Any priest who would do this would be better having never been born.

To be fair, they don't stand up to their wives very often. Jim always takes her side. George sometimes argues with Mary but not as much as he should. In that way, they're just as guilty as their wives.

@@saubhadrsamod1040 well, Jim was more supportive to his wife than his daughter at first for a long time. Even now he still seems to support the wife more. And I would say Mee Maw did more for them than George Senior did.

Catholics baptism all the babies. Then there’s a Confirmation ceremony when child is about 12. I’m not religious. So my mother went and had all or most of my 5 children baptized when I wasn’t there. It meant something to her, and I’m fine with it I guess.
I'm not sure there was anything in that episode that wasn't offensive.
As a Catholic the baptism was 100% valid and honestly the priests sometimes is not even needed

How not? Of course one can be, even in the same kind of Christianity. If you were let's say born to Catholics who baptised you as a newborn - a) and later you as an adult had voluntary excommunicated yourself, maybe you became a Buddhist or whatever. If you later want to become Catholic again, you'll have to be baptised again. The very first baptism can't be erased from the baptism-books but you can't get any other sacrament unless you are baptised again
b) you change between different ways of Christianity (Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Protestant, Greek Catholic, whatever else there is and there are really many) - you'll each time be baptised again in that exact rite.
