If summit ascents were only counted as such when the protagonists were back down alive, there would perhaps be fewer dead climbers. Greetings from Germany (alt. approx. 20m) to Pakistan!
Why? How would that change the death rate? Take a photo at the top.
I count their summit as more legit than those that left their trash on the mountain.
Best 8,000 meter channel ever!
Great show , thank you for your time, sorry about losing your friend.
Thank you for another great video! Very sorry about Tomek.
Thank you for your enlightening comments on this tragic story. Elisabeth has the stamina and the passion that Herman Buhl, Bonatti and Messner had, Tomak was a fine mountaineer, but first of all he was under the spell of Nanga Parbat. At last he rests where he belongs. I would never doubt the accomplishment of these two. I don't care if there is no video. I have very few pics of my climbs and none at the summit in winter, why would anyone take his gloves off and risk frostbite manipulating a camera ? After all Elisabeth came back and if she had left her companion from the beginning she would have made it on her own.
Very good video, thank you for sharing. I am from same country as Eli. Very moving event. RIP Tomek
Love to see more videos like this. Excellent content.
Great video again.
Tnx nice chanel bro
I have a question: If one does not succeed to take oneself back down from a mountain that one has summited, does this still count as a successful summiting? Also in John Snorri, Ali Sadpara and Juan Pablo's case: If it can be proved that they have summited K2 before they perished, can one still call it a (successful) summiting? And by the way: Are there any results from trying to evaluate the electronic gadgets found on the three perished climbers? And if not, can we reasonably expect any results sooner or later?
Summit success is practically reaching the summit regardless one was able to get down alive. If a climber claims to have reached the summit after descending, it is normally considered a summit success although there are many controversies in this regard. If there is a proof, even better. There are no further confirmations in case of Ali, John and JP.
