Thank you! I disassembled the bolt group to fully clean this used gun and couldn’t get it re-assembled correctly. Thank you for showing the reassembly. The ambi RDB helps with qualifications as I switch left/right shoulders on certain targets.
Risky making field strip videos on RUclips. In future videos it is quite likely that such will only be on alternative platforms like Rumble, Brighteon, BitChute, and Utreon. I'm on all four as AmbGun.
Congratulations on the Defender...I love the handguard on that model. Check out the rest of my series on the RDB to truly appreciate the RDB advantage. ruclips.net/p/PLVlCoEE1rzM60wsyiKI5X6CuBlRYCRSkI
I believe you were referring to the BOLT CAM. I really liked and appreciate you tutorial video. I have a RDB and I appreciate someone else going across the board on handling it. Thanks for the videos.
you're right, the bolt cam pin. No doubt I'll still call it a bolt head retaining pin something or another in the future. Must be old school, two stroke bias.
If you're not already ambidextrous, check out our How to Become an Ambidextral Gunfighter series. Here is where the RDB really shines. www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/how-to-become-ambidextrous
I guess the inaccuracy(apart from the barrel not being free floating) is partly due to the tolerance of the pins with the cover plate and the barrel connection holes, also there may be some sideway movement of the barrel relative to the upper cover plate and therefore stock. May be using longer bolt with nuts can help to increase the rigidity of the barrel with the cover plate. Thanks for the video! I was very good to see the internals in details.
I never shoot from the bench, so I can't address any inherent accuracy of the RDB, but for practical accuracy in field positions, I find the RDB very accurate. My latest video exposes another practical benefit...I was shooting an inherently VERY accurate Mossberg MVP in comparison to the RDB on a very windy day. Wind blowing 30-40 mph. The long MVP bolt gun was buffeted by the wind while the shorter (but with about the same barrel length) RDB was far less disturbed by the wind. Similar advantages to the bullpup rifles when shooting from my favorite field position...squatting, i.e., rice paddy prone. ruclips.net/video/Wyorb2wIfHQ/видео.html
I love how simple the RDB is. It’s almost AK levels of simple. If it were more durable and if there was a dust cover over the ejection port, you’d have yourself a serious military bullpup!
Not ready for military service, but I do think it should be included in trials...not durability trials, but to experience the benefits of a ambi-mirrored, bullpup rifle....paired with training about how to be ambi. ruclips.net/video/K2Ehq4KkDVw/видео.htmlsi=uZOp-tbzygZMSxkk
@@runrun8239Advantage ACOG...Rotating the mount is a solution for RH or LH shooters. Not beneficial for the ambi. LPVO cantilever mounts often come with the big nuts, too. Though starting to see more slick and flush mounts.
Yes...for either left or right hand operation. But for full ambi, those big assed nuts still get in the way (assuming full ambi charging handle like the MDR). It was really a simple matter to cut the studs back and replace those big thumb screws with 5mm flange nuts. ruclips.net/video/I6T6XKtfpZ8/видео.html
Thanks for the video. The bolt group looks less complicated than that of a AR-15. Everything else looks more complicated. I don't know whether I'll be able to get one, but this is certainly an interesting rifle.
My channel's primary theme is the importance of being ambidextrous for "optimal use of cover" and it is from that perspective that the RDB (and MDR) really outclasses the AR/M4. Follow our easy 2 week process to become an Ambidextral Gunfighter and it really changes one's perspective. Otherwise, I am very impressed with my BCM AR and enjoy it at the range. But if heading to a gunfight, I'll take the RDB. Videos and free booklet at... www.ambgun.com
Surprised you liked the trigger so much. Many reviewers don't. Maybe competition from Desert Tech has caused them to make improvements. It would be great to see a side by side comparison between the RDB and the MDR.
Most reviewers confuse trigger weight with trigger quality. The RDB has a 5+ pound pull, but there is little creep and it breaks cleanly. However, keep in mind the theme of this video...I cleaned the rifle of the preservative applied at the factory and applied Sentry Solutions Tuf-Glide, a dry lubricant. The MDR has a good trigger and the RDB is its equal. The RDB features a far more durable feeling polymer than the MDR (I think MDRx has maybe improved in this area). I have forthcoming RDB review videos, but so far my preferences are: Mag Release: RDB Bolt Release: MDR Charging handle: MDR (is true ambi) Folding Part of Charging Handle: RDB Safety: RDB Balance: RDB Foregrip: MDR Pistol Grip: MDR Trigger: Tie Ejection: RDB Pic Rail: RDB Adjustable Gas System: RDB Price: RDB

I've had an RDB (actually, a couple of them) for about five years now, and I have owned an MDRx and a couple X95s. I'm not in any way a "trigger snob," and my only experience with what I'd consider a "bad" trigger was in dry-firing an IWI SAR. As far as I can tell, all the triggers of the three rifles are "acceptable" and compare favorably with my limited experience with the M4/M16 - the only AR-style rifles I've got ANY experience with.
Yes, configurable for left hand or right hand use. But not optimal for dynamic ambi like the Desert Tech MDR or Springfield Hellion...but for other reasons (like exceptional trigger) I prefer the RDB over these two. www.ambgun.com/ambidextral-rifle/keltec-rdb
Thanks for directing me here from your other video. As I am watching another question occurred to me. How fast do you think you can clear a malfunction in a life or death scenario? I'm debating making the RDB the gun I grab if my life is in danger but my main concern is if that is some kind of jam or malfunction clearing it might take a very long time. You mentioned if your RDB was jamming 50/1000 rounds you'd still grab it, so how fast can you clear malfunctions if you had one in the middle of a fight? This user has a good video on it: ruclips.net/video/sW8f4t_g19s/видео.html
Become ambidextrous for optimal use of cover, that gunfighting advantage is significant enough when paired with an ambi maneuverable rifle that I can endure more malf risk and still be equal to the AR15. An override in an AR is pretty gnarly to clear, the equivalent in the RDB would take me twice as long to clear. Fortunately, overrides are rare on both platforms when running decent ammo and, IMO, dry lube. Gunfighting is a percentages game. The best will sometimes lose against the worst. In the early years of tournament paintball, an ambidextrous team would defeat a non-ambi (but otherwise equal team) 80% of the time. An ambi team would dominate a rookie team 95% of the time. Those percentages may not translate perfectly to gunfighting with lead, but I'm pretty sure it isn't too far off. I guess my point is that getting into gunfights over and over, you eventually lose. It's way more likely you'll straight up lose due to poor use of cover than lose due to a rifle malfunction. Even in paintball, we dealt with malfunctions...by staying tight to cover and not panicking, you usually have time to get things working again...and in paintball, given the time limit of the game, things are way more aggressive than you or your opponents would be in a real life and death fight. Matt Best in his book mentions his shocking Army Instructors with his full ambi movement through a shoot house, unfortunately it's portrayed as freak of nature. Great book. Hilarious.
