This was the closing night of the updated Miss Saigon that ran in the Prince Edward theatre in London. After the final performance Cameron brought out the whole cast of the original run back in the late 80's. I was there that night and seeing the old and new cast perform together is something I will never forget.
Rachelle has been on West End in Miss Saigon, Les Mis and Hamilton, can't believe you haven't seen her. and she was at Broadway too for Miss Saigon. Lea will be back in West End for restaging of "Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends"

I've never heard of Rachelle Ann Go... holy crap. She's incredible. I also never thought there'd be a voice that could come close to Lea Salonga's in terms of depth, breadth, pitch or breath control (Well, okay, not true - Bernadette Peters is the original true Broadway diva, and Lea Salonga comes in as a close second, but their voices are colored very differently. It's like comparing the sound of a clarinet to a double bass - two totally different instruments.), but Rachelle is amazing. Thanks for posting this! (PS: you're getting so damn emotional because that's one of the most heart-wrenching songs from "Miss Saigon", one of the most emotional musicals ever written. It's a masterpiece, and there's no way you're getting away from that song without having your heart strings tugged at least a little bit - not if the singer is singing it right.)

In the stage version, Gigi (Rachelle) and Kim (Lea) still take the lead,but Gigi does one verse and chorus then Lea does her bit,but the other girls sing the other layer in the second half of the song where in this version it's replaced by Rachelle alone. Adds a whole different vibe to the song. It's nice to see how Leas voice has evolved since she first sang the role too

This number was performed after the full 25th anniversary gala performance of Miss Saigon held at the Prince Edward Theater in London's West End on September 22, 2014. Rachelle Ann Go who played Gigi van Tranh, one of the popular bar girls in the musical sang this duet which featured Lea Salonga, the original Kim in the 1989 production.
A technical note. Probably something you don't know. Watch the beginning again when Miss Salonga walks out. Look at the top of the middle of her forehead. That's her microphone. You can't see it from the audience. But we could because of the close up. Rachelle has her mic there too, but it's covered up with her hair. The wire goes down the back of the head, the neck, then down the back to the waist. A battery pack is either on a type of belt. Or it could be taped to your side depending on the costume. It has a reachable on and off button. So costumes are designed so the button is reachable. What happens if you don't turn it off if you have to go to the bathroom? The whole audience hears you going to the bathroom. Not kidding.
I don't think I've seen you react to Eva Noblezada yet. She performed with both Rachel Anne Go and Lea Salonga and holds her own (in my opinion). Just like Lea, Eva played the role of Kim in Miss Saigon. In fact this video is part of the bonus features from the 25th anniversary of the show in which both Eva and Rachel stared.
