I keep a small swim bait tied on at all times for this reason. They have always hit it when schooling. I’ve always had success with it.

terrific vid and topic, Tyler. 👍 On lanier, I have about 7-8 baits tied on but main ones are walking bait, Sebile, Fluke, and gfix80. If they’re not blowing up at moment, I will still cast something while I wait. 🙂 But….I have the Fluke and/ topwater next to me to quickly drop one rod and pickup the other to cast to them. The only time that’s risky is if you have to put your spybait down and grab fluke/topwater to quickly get to the blowups!! By the time I get back to the sunken spybait, it’s hung up on bottom. 😂

Thanx Tyler. I'll always sucked at catching schoolers. Just came across smallies yesterday and couldn't get one bite. Will try what you said.

I've had alot luck with a small jerk bait or a spinnerbait. I do agree with you about slowing down with a Texas rig or Carolina rig. Thank for the videos. They are very informative and entertaining.

Yesterday I had the best day ever. I caught 17 bass. 15 Largemouth,1 Smallmouth and 1 Rock Bass. The key was seeing the bass chasing baitfish and tossing a 6th sense divine paddle taill swimbait or a strike king rage swimmer at them. The ones I missed I would follow up with a trick worm. I caught a 3 lb 18 inch Largemouth and a 2 lb 16 inch Smallmouth. I went back today and never saw any bass busting bait. I caught 8 but they barely would even go after the swimbait or swim jig. I got a few on a wacky in bluegill flash (never tried it until today) and the trick worm. Bass are so unpredictable! Lol😂

That’s great advice, especially on the waiting on them to bust.i always throw jerkbaits at schoolers as well but I’ve even thrown wacky rigs at them as well.

Fished a lake that had an inlet that wove underneath i95 highway multiple times. Only place we caught fish that day was underneath that highway on the rocks. Only wanted a t.r. worm

Too late that I didn’t hear you mention anything close to was a lipless that you can rip at any water level or yo-yo let it sink to the bottom and yo-yo. And I also use Ned rig to swim it or pop it.

Hey Tyler I just moved to Iowa, and I see a lot of wipers (there aren’t any where I’m from) blowing up on small shad. I’ve tried throwing a variety of my standard bass gear with no success. Do you have any recommendations?

Also you can but don't chase them just wait they will be back or close where they had just came up, popr is great or plastic small swim bait with no weight

Only 1 of my home lakes were good for chasing schoolers. It used to last for about 2 to 3 weeks and sometimes it would be all day. The last 4 or 5 years the schoolers have not been there, at least on the surface. I sure do miss that action. I have been looking forward to it happening every year and it just does not happen. The only noticeable difference to the lake is the increasing population of snakeheads.

Tyler seems like a nice guy, but he is no "Pro" Its only the well seasoned old pros I bother to listen to at all with hopes of learning something useful.

      Such a useful comment! If
you only discredit the information he puts then why spend the time to watch and comment? While he may not be on a 'Pro' tour as you point out, he also offers a very credible amount of solid pointers to new fisherman that isn't offered by most 'pro' channels that spend most of their time pushing sponsor products. Hate helps no one and if his advice is below you then we all look forward to you joining the 'pro' ranks on a major tour and releasing your own videos soon!!

More than likely you just commented for clout.

You can probably learn more from a good amateur than a pro most of the time. Other than things like being more secretive and pushing sponsor products they are just so talented that sometimes they are not the best teachers. You find this a lot in sports too. The best players aren’t always (if ever) the best coaches

You don’t need to be a pro to know what you’re talking about. Time on water trumps all.
