How unfortunate for you. I saw Ronnie 3 times, ELF -RAINBOW - DIO. never got to see him with BLACK SABBATH. What a magnificent performer he was. And such a great guy. Man!!! I am 58 and this was my anthems in HS!!! So weird that i saw Def Leppard a few years back and there was one of my favorite shred guitarists just strumming along with an occasional lead here or there…. I am glad he is still out there touring with Leppard for 20 years or something but it’s just surreal to see him so poised and standing back while Phil is doing all the lead parts. Maybe he can’t anymore which is acceptable being his age but I hate not hearing the beautiful leads of the great Vivian C…… Phil still can shred and for his age i give him complete props……. Long live Def Leppard and Dio… RIP Ronnie!!!🎸🎸🎸🎸

Although this is a pro shot live video which could possibly have been edited to some extent it really represents what it would sound like in any Dio concert, i have seen him live a number of times but i have also heard hundreds of live bootlegs which could not possibly have been edited so i can attest to that he really sounded this good generally. This was also a time very different from today in regards to technology, no autotune or advanced computer editing existed so you could not do nearly as much as today and big TV cameras were used so they couldnt just film a lot of gigs because it was quite an undertaking, these days you could get better picture using just a phone. Dio was 43 here and had been doing it for a very long time by this point so he was very experinced and at the peak of his abilities so there is that as well. To me it sounds very genuine and im sure it would have sounded the same if there would have existed smartphones at the time and someone in the audience would have filmed it.
Vivian Campbell was truly one of the best, I was so disappointed when he joined Def Leppard and became a rhythm player. He was too good for that band, as far as just guitar styles. Many people don't remember the name who did in Campbell today but he was badass

he was 44 or 45 here. he didnt hit the bigtime til he was in his mid 30s with rainbow. born in 1942. so yeah he looked old because because he was 10- 20 years older than the other frontmen. and there isnt any prerainbow video performances of him performing when he was young there some reel to reels recordings going back to 59/60 with him tho.
