Jamie Campbell Bower joins Kyle Meredith With… to dig into his new music and starring role in the latest season of Stranger Things. The actor/musician tells us how the breakup of his band Counterfeit led to a solo journey that finds him building a musical world around Dante’s Inferno and the 9 Circles of Hell, covering the classic “Run On (God’s Gonna Cut You Down),” and taking influence from The Cure’s Pornography. Bower also talks in depth about his portrayal of Peter Ballard in the 4th season of Stranger Things, finding the voice for Vecna, and choosing Placebo for his own headphone song.

@@Addylillis i kinda get it, the same thing happened to me, i find his music so inspiring and meaningful, he's actually the type of person i wish to be friends with (more than "anything else") just to hear him speak and share our passions for music and movies, it's actually so delightful to just hear him speak or sing that i could listen to his voice for hours.

I am still in awe that he played Vecna AND 001. I had no idea the entire time, he’s just that talented.
Love this interview, also that you let him talk about his work and let him unfold his ideas and perspective, without cutting him off to get in more questions. A lot of interviewers aren't as considerate and just work off their list of questions with any person they're interviewing - without realising how it disrupts the natural flow of someone as ready to talk about his art as JCB.

@@kimkim9363 he’s mentioned it in interviews and things that he struggled with drugs and alcohol for a period of time, but nothing really further. i struggle too and i feel like his perspective would be so inspirational because he’s jamie lol.
@@misswade2111 I don't know a whole lot about his sobriety story, but I read somewhere that he meditates a lot to help him. I would love to hear more about his sobriety story too.

Been a fan since Sweeney Todd and so a part of me wanted to gatekeep him but an even bigger part of me is happy for him getting the recognition he so deserves.
I`m so happy he's getting recognition all around but ESPECIALLY with his music!!! We need more musicians like him being pushed to the front. His music is a true conversation starter you can`t just listen to it and ignore the message... it IS the message. Come on Jamie bring us home!

When I saw him in ST I was like: "Hey that's the Twilight, Harry Potter, SweeneyTodd, Mortal Instruments guy" And I Really didn't know what a Behemoth of acting he was about to give. After knowing these stories from Darkthrone to Pinhead to Placebo and knowing he's a singer/musician and has an excelent control of his voice, no wonder why Vecna is the greatest villain in ST. What an excelent interview!

What a fascinating interview! The mark of a great interviewer is to let the guest speak so they can delve deep, and to ask and not assume. I love that Kylie does that here with Jamie so we can hear some of his brilliant perspectives and insight into the art of story and how he's building a world that his music is set to. That's so beautiful & cool and makes so much sense to me as a writer. The fact that Dante's Inferno is a main influence, and that it's most important to him to feel everything to its core makes it clear as to why his art is so extraordinary and has a depth that transcends the medium he's working in. King Woman, The Cure's Pornography, & Placebo are great bands and albums to reference, and the way he pays attention to frequency & vibrations is quite instrumental to the organic nature and raw takes he leans toward, something that is so rare and unusual when it comes to overproduced studio releases. B R I L L I A N T. I also completely resonate with Kylie's excitement over Jamie's performance in ST, Season 4, and the triple roles he inhabited. Jamie is the greatest actor of his generation. It's so good to finally see the veil lifted so that others in the arts and beyond, understand his artistic genius.
🌟Kyle has great taste & is excellent at what he does. He interviewed Gavin Rossdale, my songwriting icon, half a year ago, asked all the best questions, and was as excited about Bush's sublime b-sides as I am.🌟

I found out about Jamie from Stranger Things and have been intrigued by him ever since. I'm not a celebrity person. He is very talented and his passion for music and for art of acting but what impresses me is his personality, his genuine nature, and being humble is so endearing. His voice is amazing as it is so versatile. Of course his natural accent but also his singing and his voice control for the character he plays. When he mentioned the Cure and Pornography, well, that just made me love him even more. The Cure are my Favorite band and Pornography is one of my favorites of theirs, along with Disintegration, Faith. 💜 I would have asked what songs from that album are his favorites. Mine are A Strange Day,A Hundred Years, Cold, The Hanging Garden. I got into his music lately and really enjoying it.
