The fight is real...changing behavior is extremely difficult..recovery program taught me how to get sober it did not teach me how to live sober. When i added trauma therapy alongside recovery meetings then and only then did i stay sober. I used in order to escape my torturous thoughts..it is a symptom to the REAL trauma. Address the trauma and your ability to live not only soberly but in great peace goes up exponentially.
Prayers up for you my brother...I am 62..started using at 11 years of age...I am celebrating 7 years sober next month.
It is possible...one single moment, one single thought at a time...and handle that TRAUMA.

A huge congratulations on 7 years! That’s such a huge accomplishment! & I’m so proud! I LOVE addicts! The best people I ever met in my life, are people I’ve met in the rooms, ya know?
Thank you so much for your words & your support! It really means a lot!

You probably think pretty low of yourself, but it be the people who think lowly of themselves that actually have the potential to change things, not only in your life, but for others as well. You need to locate the source of your pain, although you probably already know it. I never suffered from deep addiction, but I been exactly where you are at mentally. You can bounce back and become someone that is listened to for wisdom, I can see it in your eyes.
