      Ubisoft with Assassin's Creed made something similar. Yes, it is fantasy and also less accurate, but the idea is the same. The only difference is in the gameplay experience balance. AC Unity was a virtual museum built into a game while KCD is a game built into a virtual museum.

    realism will be a greatest experience because the real world has deeper complexity than something imagined in someone's head. Because of the non-linear effects that create this stuff. One person can't think of a level of detail that a result of centuries of lives intermingling and problem solving. While fantasy can get inspiration from history and the real world it will only be a simplified version, and won't connect as deeply because there are no world forces acting on it. Everything you see in this game is from research of world forces and how they interact with objects. That's the revelation I had in the enjoyment of a simulation experience that I didn't expect I'd have. You walk into a space, and I spent time even just looking at objects, because there is a real world logic to all of it. I've never done that in a game before, and I think it's because I recognize it's just an object created by a 3D modeling artist. It's not real or has any story to it. An object in this world, like a cupboard, I look at it and the construction and think of how many years people spent redesigning it. You see these details that you wouldn't see in another game because other games like fantasy often lack a clear source material, so there's inherently less complexity

    • @LaughingMan44
      @LaughingMan44 Месяц назад +4

      that's what separates good fantasy from generic soulless fantasy. ASOIAF and LOTR at least take significant inspiration from real world history, religion, mythology etc.

    Visually, I think this will be one of the best-looking games, period.
    One thing I hope the devs work on with their next entry is the NPCs facial mocap/ animations.
    Its a nitpick, but when you see a world so absolutely gorgeous and hyper realistic as this, it kind of takes you out a bit when the characters have that uncanny dead behind the eyes look.
    I know not everyone can be Naughty Dog or Rockstar, but I think there's room for improvement there.

    • @8Paul7
      @8Paul7 Месяц назад +14

      They use mocap, and even performance mocap for cutscenes. But not for dialogue scenes because there are too many of them and since NPCs are dynamic (move around the world according to schedules and player can interact with them anywhere) it is not possible to handcraft the dialogue scenes like in e.g. Horizon or Witcher 3 (where all interactive NPCs are static).

    • @Ronuk1996
      @Ronuk1996 Месяц назад +1

      Facial mocap should improve with a larger budget for the 3rd game. First game had a budget of 35million second is higher but not enough to see the improvement. Ghost of Tushmia had a budget of 60 million and had these issues also. You need a Witcher 3, RDR1 or Last of us budget of 80 million. I can only imagine what warhorse could look like with a Budget like RDR2 or even GTA6. That would not happen but would be interesting to see.

No technique needed there, just brute strength.

      You can play in german or czech at least..

    • @tadeasfridrich4979
      @tadeasfridrich4979 Месяц назад +11

      That would be quite difficult to do. The old Czech was pretty different from today's Czech language and they would need to find lot of sources of grammar etc. Then you need the actors who would have to learn how to speak these old languages properly. Now imagine doing this not only for Czech language, but also for German, Polish and others. And in the end, the worldwide fanbase wouldnt really care that much if the characters are speaking old or new Czech, because They wouldnt be able to tell the difference anyway.

    I wish realism and mature themes like this was more popular in the gaming industry (also other genres). Almost everything has supernatural, superhero-ish or scifi elements now. IMO it's more immersive when things are grounded in reality. It doesn't make it boring

    I've yet to beat KCD due to being too busy in just being a menace in sneaking around and getting stuff for free from merchants while they sleep but I honestly love the fact that the first game had brigandines which other games tend to stylize like Skyrim did with its Dawnguard armor. Can't wait to play KCD 2 and fight one on one while wearing a brigandine. Also hoping combat gets improved.

    I wish game companies would look at games like this and understand that what players really want nowadays is a world (whether it's realistic or not) that they can become completely immersed in. I won't be buying this day 1 only because I still have to finish the first game, but excited to get into this and i'll definitely be buying at some point down the line

    Oh my gosh 😮😮😮! This looks so atmospheric, so amazingly vivid and rich in details; almost can't believe it. I'll spend probably the first couple of weeks in this game just for exploring the whole scenery in some kind of stealth mode. And I love how the NPC's interact with the environment. I'm really thankful that I can still experience such a marvel of IT-art-/engineering during my life time.
    PS: So, don't worry dear NPC's; I won't kill you in KCD 2 in the first couple of weeks at least 😄.

I went into KCD knowing very little and I am so glad I didn't watch anyone's gameplay until I had already completed those quests (with a couple exceptions of getting stuck and needing help).

    I really appreciate the much work that was put into it. The historical accuracy and Central-European architecture both are things that I feel being way too underrepresented in videogames.
    This is something that wouldn't be possible to make if the first game wasn't a success and fun to play.
    I've seen similar virtual models in museums many times, but nobody can afford to make such a detailed living and breathing recreation. Great work from everybody who made this possible!

    Obviously a medieval city works well as a setting for a video game. It was built for people and walking after all!
    Warhorse really does a great job at depicting the environment of medieval bohemia, even if they do not have the same luck with depicting the societal and human element i still hugely enjoyed the first game, while hoping the second one might improve in that aspect.

      I mean it’s Central Europe and the town (Kuttenberg) was built by Germans and was, during that time, majority German I think. So it’s not that eastern.

    • @gustavpepa6462

      The Czech Kingdom was part of the Holy Roman Empire. It was heavily influenced by its architecture and many Germans lived here. Kuttenbetg itself was one of the cities where the Germans had great influence. Relations between Czechs and Germans were sometimes quite tense. I think that will also be shown in KCD2.
