      Lamont Williams Skill??? Biggie skill was EXCLUSIVELY rhyming, Heavy D and Chubb Rock had THAT. D James / You sound stupid... Every drug dealer ain't a killer, but the way you just lump shit together, tells me all that I know about you... I don't care what whoever said, I was addressing the words coming out of your train of thought... Pac didn't even go to ballet school, mobb deep did... Pac went to a performance arts high school, & became a damn good actor for the big screen... Like I said before, you're the one caught up in this American stereotype life... Pac was black panther party to his soul... People like you on the sidelines believe that just because he talked about the streets means he was trying to become it...?? How do you sound, we are all from the streets, there's is no such thing as being from the streets equals gangsta, drugs, killings, etc... That's that Hollywood lie that you & the phony zombies believe in like y'all believe in Jesus & god... The fact you're saying you'd follow anybody speaks for itself what kind of person you are, a follower... I don't have to follow Pac or Malcolm x, I'm living the exact reality they're speaking of, & until the power that be, or people like your demon ass kill me, I'm still here... Troll all you want, you're behind a keyboard, not in my reality...

    @Dymez510 10 лет назад +53

    Pac's depth and versatility was and still is unmatched. Like Bleek said, you'll never hear anybody spit a record like Brenda's Got a Baby. Hearing that track sounds like it came from an award-winning, best-selling novel the way Pac tells that story. The definition of "lyricist" has changed from generation to generation. Even with current artists today, the term "lyricist" is so messed up that people can't even agree on who is one anymore. Maybe is the major influx of hate that's also creeped in to the Hip Hop community in the past few years. But when you spit some shit like:
    Somebody wake me, I'm dreaming
    I started as a seed, the semen
    Swimming upstream, planted in the womb while screaming
    On the top was my Pops, my mama screaming stop
    From a single drop this is what they got
    I can't help but be floored on how this dude can just open your mind and fill it with a picture like that.

    I think Bleek hit the nail on the head. You can't compare the two and both are great artist. 2Pac's Makaveli album is a work art. Biggie lyrical flow is second to none. Seeing that Jay-Z has matured to the artist he has, I wish Biggie and Pac would have had the opportunity to have done the same. Can you imagine 2Pac with a Pharrell production or Biggie with a Mike Will Made it beat? The bar for rap would have been set so far, those two artist would have further propel Rap music as the dominant music genre.

    • @mrdeetal
      @mrdeetal 10 лет назад

      ***** the point I was making, if Big and Pac had access to Jay-Z producers (Mannie Fresh, Timbaland, Pharell) I can only imagine the songs they would have produced. btw...I don't see 2Pac working with Yeezy but a Big/Jeezy collab would have been something. and also in reference to Mike Will Made It...."Beach is better" he did with Jay-Z is fiyah.

Lil 1/2 dead had no part in the creation of that song, he simply disliked the fact that 2Pac got signed to Interscope records before him, because he was also a well underground artist at the time in Oakland and was mad that 2pac, who started as a roadie/backup dancer got signed first.....

      Pac had 3 albums before that .. and had many movies out .. BIG literally just dropped his FIRST album.. when Pac released his fourth he was fresh out of jail and had a lot of attention so he sold around the same as BIG sold album wise at the end of 1995, in total tho, BIG outsold him in 1995 off the back of his video blowing his album up, then Pac dropped again in 1996 and had classic like California Love etc, and BIG didn’t do much for 1996 apart from features and record for Life After Death .. so you understand Pac didn’t have a platnium album until 1995 and he released his first in 1991

    Biggie was one of the best lyrical rappers ever, that's undisputed anyone that say otherwise is smoking dust, but as a global icon and the peoples lives that's been touched including my own, and besides the antics how down to earth and real he was in his raps, and how his flow made every beat he was on instead of the other way around cause a lot of bigs songs you could pop a hot ny rapper on it and it'll still be hot like nas, jay, big pun, big l, etc. But you couldn't put anyone on Brenda's got a baby or Hail Mary because his message and emotion transcended, at the end of the day they are different and was great artists which is all that matters they both deserve respect, no one gets amped up to say led zeppelin is better than Rolling Stones cause they're both great in their own right, respect real hiphop, RIP to two of the greatest! Honorable mention to big l, big pun, pimp c, etc. who held it down for hiphop

Pac is known through the world by his trial and tribulations, yes. We are talking about hardcore lyrics in rap, popularity could just be about good media moves nothing to do with skills. Big was a better lyricist. I like pac as well.

    Reasons why Pac had the greater impact worldwide
    Most people overseas dont speak English just learn basics of British English so it's impossible for an uneducated to understand NY or LA slang by a 90bpm instrumental. Biggie told good stories with an amazing flow but we didn't understand what he was saying. Not the same with Pac because his voice and delivery combined with signal words everybody on the world understands created a picture in mind what other great lyricists just can do to his own people. For example when Biggie says "I put hoes in NY onto DKNY/Miami, D.C. prefer Versace" we didn't know what he was about but when Pac says "crack sale - black male" or "Hennessey - enemy" we felt his pain and the problems of black society back then. To summarize: what BIG gave to you with his lyrics Pac gave it with his voice, delivery and melancholic instrumentals to the whole world.

    Why are people saying Pac had no lyrical ability but had the largest impact on the world? If that was true he'd be Al Sharpton on record. He was good at spittin and keeping your attention with subjects that you can identify with which is why he sold so much...

      think they meant 2pac didn’t have better punchlines than biggie but again they are 2 different rappers with different strengths and weaknesses so no one is really better than the other, just different and let’s not forget, music is subjective. We all have different taste in music so tbh comparing the two is unfair and trying to compare them is basically the same as trying to pick sides. Is west coast better or east coast or do oranges taste better or do apples taste better? You get what I’m saying?

  • @lamareaton

    There isn't a fool alive that was living and breathing hip hop from when Pac and Big first came out until now that will say Big is better. Sure NY cats from where Big is from might say he won, but I'm talking ANYONE that was old enough to understand hip hop, lived hip hop back in those days and isn't a Crook homer, will tell you it's not even an argument. I think the bigger question is who was better Big vs. Wu Tang.

      ***** How old are you?

    • @lamareaton
      @lamareaton 10 лет назад

      ***** So when Wu and Big were out you were around 10? The reason I brought it up is because to me Wu played to a little more older more diverse audience, I mean out here in Cali you had whiteboy skaters (back in those days not too many blacks skated), middle class, to bangers who listened to them. Big wasn't hitting out here obviously because we loved Pac. Out here I would say at that time Wu was hitting harder.

    You can't compare the 2 because the had two different styles. If compared, Tupac was a better motivational, poetic, song writing rapper. Biggie was the best MC based off of flow, delivery, lyrical skill, different styles. Both Greats. Pac had 5 albums before he died and Biggie had 2.

      Anthony Gaines 2pac, in my opinion chose the "straight forward" style of rapping, none of that hidden messages stuff that other emcees do... He demonstrated PLENTY of times that he could match lyrics with Biggie at anytime if wanted....

      Anthony Gaines Skill??? Biggie skill was EXCLUSIVELY rhyming, Heavy D and Chubb Rock had THAT. Tupac could rhyme but was better at also being able to say what he wanted to say, keeping his message at the center. Biggie's rhymes were at the center, not his message. That's why he didn't say as much as Pac did, he couldn't. His rhymes were his driving force not his message. Biggie might have thought more diverse things than what his music show cases but he was capable of keeping it together in a rhyme 2Pac did. He was a poet in music. The message came first, then the rhyme. So what The Notorious B.I.G. was a better rhymes than Pac, so was Chubb Rock and Heavy D.

    people forget Life After Death was a double disk that shit was like 2 albums in one. i prefer quality over quantity anyway and Pac didn't really have a classic album imo Ready to die and Life After Death are better than any albums Pac made. To each is own but i'll take biggie lyrically, flow wise, and story telling ability. They both Legends tho

      All eyes on me is terrible. Just a complete mash up of boring songs with a bunch of crappy featuring artist. Ready to die was a masterpeice and rated 112 on the 500 best musical albums of all time. making it the highest rap album on the list, It started with biggie being born and ended with him committing suicide. the album is constructed like a story, then life after death ironically released after his death. and idiots like you mention "All eyes on me"?

    I think if BIG wasn't the number one rival of Tupac in 1996, Biggie fame would've died a year or 2 after he died.. it's because Pac, we still remember Biggie

    • @MrMessyb
      @MrMessyb 4 года назад +1

      Nah I don’t think so. Doesn’t make sense because Biggie sold more records than Pac. Life after death was the first rap album to go Diamond and he had the record for the best selling rap album for years!!! Why not Pac....? Biggie was actually a bigger rap star than Pac before their deaths and he is sampled MUCH more in rap music, like MUCH more!!
      Pac has a bigger influence for sure after his death and on a wider range of people, because of his emotionally touching music. I love both either way.
