The feeling of ball pocketing and compression against the strings is a life-long pursuit. You can feel it one day and it could easily disappear on a bad day.
Dominant eye makes sense. But in general, the biggest flaw preventing from hitting the ball properly is the body misalignment. If you are crooked, you can do whatever you want, nothing good will come out. It is the most difficult thing to fix but it is way more efficient and your body will not suffer. You will also avoid a lot of injuries. PS: there are disciplines like ballet where they have to be perfectly balanced both sides. Why tennis should be different?
That dominant eye test is something we neuroscientists make fun of. There is no such thing even though people feel like there is. And the "test" used here simply depends on where your hands are initially positioned relative to the object. You can make it come out as either left or right. Please stop the unscientific nonsense in coaching. 🤦🏻♂️🧠
Literally a google search will tell you the opposite. While not every single person has a dominant eye, the majority do, and yes it does affect performance in reading objects flying towards you such as in tennis.
@@pegtopmaster8780 I'm a brain scientist who has studied such things for over 30 years. As I said before, people have a sense that they prefer to use one eye more than the other. You would still do the same eye test to check dominancy because being a lefty means you're "more likely" to be left eye dominant but doesn't mean that is guaranteed. If you're a lefty but still right eye dominant, then you'd have cross dominancy, which you'd have to adjust for. All this helps is to determine how to adjust your technique based on how you see objects.
For right handed players: left eye dominant means you can better follow the ball on your forehand even if you have a big turn. If your right eye dominant with a big turn your right eye can’t see the ball that good if at all so you will try to play more open. Exactly reverse is true for backhand
@@firstbloood1 interesting I’ve never heard anyone or coach say anything about dominant eye until I saw Pats video spring up last year, I grew up in the 90s in Australia to and never heard it. I'm convinced the dominant eye shit is nonsense. It is true you have a dominant eye, but adjusting what type of a shot you hit based on this, it's bs. It doesn't matter.
I mean I just completely disagree. I’m a righty but I only found I was left eye dominant through Patrick’s other videos on this. I used to struggle on my backhand side for a pretty long time and it was only until I applied this concept into figuring out recently that I could take the mental cue of seeing the ball a lot deeper into my hitting zone on my left side, and now my backhand is working out 10x better than before. Tennis stroke form, as I’m sure you and a bunch of other people know, is just a bunch of mental cues to give you confidence on how you can hit your shots. It’s up to you to discern whether or not concepts like this will help your swing, not if it helps or doesn’t help others
