Just to add a few things for those that want to make the push for ranking in the top 3k for max rewards. Don't be intimidated by an opponents rank. Most people design their arena team in such a way that, when they are playing, they'll win turn 1 BUT are relatively easy to defeat when going up against. Yes there will still be some people who put up teams designed to ruin your streak, but they are rather rare and you'll soon come to recognize who they are before hand so you can avoid them. When selecting an opponent you should select the opponent with the highest ratio. As those players will give you more points upon defeat. Mysidia had some nice tips for putting a team together but I'd like to add you should try to make sure your chainers are the same chaining family, or at least a 2-2 split. Try building physical chainers for TDH to avoid evasion or use non elemental magic chainers to avoid resistances. Also make sure you have a bonus unit on your team! When gearing your team, gear them for as much HP as possible rather than offensive stats. A single hit in the Arena caps at 999 damage and can be easily reached by a max level ungeared NV unit so gearing for offense won't do much for your team. The only way to do more than the 999 cap in a single hit is through chaining, breaking the chain resets it so while pressing repeat as Mysidia did in his video is a fine solution for a more casual approach and will often get you there eventually. Taking the time to manually chain your skills should get you there faster against a more formidable foe. Hope this helps!
This is incredibly helpful, and just what I needed to take the next step. I appreciate you giving so much detail. My video was just about getting in and out of arena, but I absolutely think people should go as high as possible given how nice the rewards can be.
@@mysidia anytime :) Glad to have you as part of the FFBE community now too. I played WotV for a hot minute when KoR Sterne dropped and sunk all my time into maxing him before reflecting on that process and realizing I didn't enjoy a single step along the way. Watched quite a few of your videos during that timespan and enjoyed your content and view on things so I'm glad I have something to bring me back to your channel now.
@@spencerworks Maxing a 100 cost unit is a rough introduction into the game, not surprised that it wasn't fun. I couldn't do it (unless I got a lot of help from Gumi like we did with Duane). I'm glad that you stuck around!
Hot take here, I usually have a cover tank that can heal some of possible as bonus unit, or if I don't have a decent bonus unit, I throw toxic rain in a materia slot. 4/5 teams are full debuff resistant, but some aren't since old noctis isn't meta. Plus my useless unit has a skill to use. If not toxic rain, then the ice bird blizzard one that inflicts stop works well too. If you're not trying to climb into top 3000 and just trying to get in and out, these are great for repeat.
I ran into the most amazing team on my first day playing. There was a guy that just had a Slime from the Dragon Quest games. The match would start and the slime would somehow just die. Person that had a single slime on his team, wherever you are, you're a real one.
Arena advice: Best damage set up is 2 AOE physical chainers & 2 AOE magic chainers, both sets should element neutral preferably. Your one empty spot should be the bonus unit of the week. I never even bother equiping them, they are there for the points only. My Team, still: 2x Trance Terra (4xChaoswave chain) & An attacker & a Tank (Viktor Marchenko & Zeno) that chain Aereole Ray. Its best if your physical damage dealers are both dual wielding for weeks where combos are barred.... but if you never do anything but hit reload, you can get through that week cheating the system.
I tend to focus on non-elemental damage dealers for arena since teams will often be geared for 100% physical evade at higher levels and certain characters will have a natural immunity to certain types of elemental damage. Also I always make sure to have one high HP, status immune character in my party that has a way to raise my party. In my group that’s always Doctor Aiden but it can be any healer really with a Super Ribbon on them or a combination of immunity effects so you are prepared for the status effect troll teams or you can reset your team if you get unlucky and get hit by a multi LB team like Kuja that can wipe you out even with mediocre AI. I will use three non-elemental AOE magic changers, a beefy status immune support (Aiden in my case) and then whoever your best bonus unit is. Recipe for success.
I need to learn more about evade and damage types etc. Sounds like there is a lot to consider, this game is deep. Thanks for the advise, I'll try to put it to good use :D
Definitely, a good magic tank is important but the evasion and draw attacks gear in the game means that a physical tank can be nearly any character for single target attacks. This is one of the reasons that magic can be more powerful in situations like this although I still prefer physical or hybrid DPS generally myself.
@@mysidia many teams will have multiple Kuja or other units that start with a full LB gauge. The cover will block them from getting an easy win vs you. The AI prioritizes a units Lb, and Kuja having a chaining aoe Lb on turn one can beat many people who don’t prepare
@@lougait4362 right I remember reading that units will always use LBs when they can. I've also seen some Kuja teams around. Alright its Faisy time (starting tomorrow!)
I wish they added another arena mode with actual battles against other players instead of ai. Also I would love if they reworked the energy system like 1 energy per 5 minutes or whatever feels so outdated compared to other games atm
Couldn't agree more about the energy system. That PVP mode sounds tough, maybe they could do it like WOTV's class matches, where you can only play at 3 specific time periods per day, that way you are more likely to find a match.
Lol I remember being so intimidated by arena, first time I tried it AOE's were disabled. It made my team so bad on top of me not knowing what I was doing.
Honestly, the rewards are pretty bad. Just do 1 battle and that should give you the base rewards that are good enough. Other than that I would recommend doing the events and not spending too much time in the arena.
I need to update this video. I had just started playing when I made this. My new recommendation would be to make a self-destruct team and go to 5 wins for the lapis. Even if you are short on cactuar vcs early as a new player eventually you will be loaded with them! I didn't realize this as a new player.

You will want to put your summer daisy and Fina on your arena team for the auto cover , helps ton. Also many of the best units for arena are not NV.
Would that be for if I am taking on stronger teams? Then I could survive going second and strike back. Ill have to try it!

I can't remember how much you have to do but I do arena for the cactuar cards to level up vision cards, not many sources of these cards so yuhp.
Yeah it's a must!
My advise is, if you are ignoring arena, put up a 3 star shadow to give ppl easy wins.

Not much time left on the Xmas unit but its still worth starting to do whatever you can. It's a very easy event.
