You are a lucky man! I bet your car performs well. I saw one last weekend with a twin turbo engine with 210 horsepower. Sweet ride even had Delorean's autograph on the dash!
The late 70's and early 80's were a bad time for performance cars. Until the turbo charged Buick Grand National came along most cars had 200 to 230 hp at the most. Even though the Delorean was not the ultimate haul ass car I would still love to drive and own one! Get a Stage 2 upgrade and a Eibach suspension on a Delorean and you should have a great car.
I also own a Delorean with a Stage 2 engine just like the one you've just seen. That starting problem is really weird. I don't have it. (lucky me). But the engine and exhaust sound exactly the same. It's a familiar sound.
You can get 300 out of the engine probably, but with the Renault transmission 230 is the max you can have. Legend industries produced 2twin turbo Deloreans with 230 hp. They had a 0-60 time of 5.8 seconds. One of them was put up against a Porsche and Ferrari 308. It blew the doors off of both of them. Note that the test was done in the early 80's. The twin turbo was going to be an option, but the company ran out of money and went under before that could happen.
Well, it was the time of the oil crisis. And it's actually "only" 132 hp (with catalytic converter installed). But the performance is not as bad as some people say. Most of them have never driven one and therefor they just don't know...
Mine produces a torque of 250 Nm between 2500 and 5000 rpm and the 198 hp peaks at 5500 rpm. Normally that twin turbo should deliver more hp. I saw one in holland producing 250 hp.
You are one of the luckiest people to own one of those! Take good care of it!

@hammerhead729 it has aftermarket exhaust from headers back and a lowered suspension

With the twin turbo option it was capable of doing 140 mph.
Ever thought about what happened in the late 70s and early 80s?
Try to remember what you've talked about in history class
Yeah, I was talking about 88mph. The speed you have to go to travel through time! lawl
I’m here in 2021 bois
Forever a timeless design
@@snake109 long time no see
ok i noticed that you have another delorean right beside that one.
i wasnt getting pissy, i was forcibly proving a point
Twin turbo, and only producing 210...I was expecting at least 300 some.
Yeah, I guess it can still get up to 88 mph :P.
is that all original
top speed and horsepower please...
